Hi Bill,
I've been a subscriber to Free Republic for about two years. I've been involved in a lot of Freeper discussion groups and have led several threads, including one where I identified myself as a black Freeper, with no blatantly racial kickback. What the Freeper spokesman should have mentioned is that the discussion threads are SELF-POLICING...when someone gets out of line, my experience has been that somewhere down the thread, THEY WILL BE CALLED ON IT. Free Republic is first and foremost, a meeting place for conservatives. The discussions run overwhelmingly along ideological lines, that at times have racial subtexts. I have NEVER experienced blatant racism on the site. If I did I would challenge it, and so would others.

I post the Daily Mass Readings, and I have never received any criticism from anyone for doing so. In fact, the thread is always very well respected by all who read it. (And that is a lot of non-Catholics, too!)
Agreed. The only fool-proof way to guard against improper posts would be to pre-screen stuff, which would hurt the spontaneity of the site.

Yet, if you watched the show, you will see that the CEO of FreeRepublic showed up to discuss the issue. Yet, where was the DailyKos.

My only regret was that the CEO Freeper wasn’t able to express himself. Perhaps he should have been better prepared. But Kudos for his bravery in showing up.

Last time I checked, this Freeper and family aren’t exactly “white”. Certainly wouldn’t stay on or contribute to a hate site.
If it wasn’t for the fact that Bill has many people watching his program, his accusations would not have even qualified for a response. You did the best thing, a dignified response.

It's always good to hear from another conservative, and especially so, from another black conservative. Without even knowing you, I know what you go through, and I'll bet you can say the same.
Look on the other post about BOR (not calling him a liar...yet was part of the title). One poster quotes the article in there.

Absolutely. But not as much effect as a tidal wave of letters, calls and e's of outrage from "former" viewers, demanding a full public primetime apology from BOR -- with copies to Fox sponsors. Like any other business, FNC can't ignore the bottom line.
