NEW YORK (AP) _ A former Emmy-winning television producer who worked with Tom Brokaw at NBC News died Monday after falling from his apartment building, police said.

Police initially reported that the producer, Eric R. Wishnie, was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene, but later they said they had located a witness who saw him as he fell from an adjacent building. The medical examiner's office said it had scheduled an autopsy.

NBC News President Steve Capus said in a statement that Wishnie, 44, was "an enormously talented former senior producer at NBC News, who had a hand in some of the most monumental and memorable news stories of our time."

Wishnie produced numerous stories for Brokaw in the Middle East, along with coverage of the Olympic Games in Athens, Sydney and Atlanta and the first North American interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He was found in the street in Greenwich Village at about 3 a.m. Monday, and he died two hours later at a hospital, NBC said.

And was he investigating the Clintons at the time?

I doubt it. He was card-carrying member of the liberal media.

“initially reported that the producer, Eric R. Wishnie, was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene, but later they said they had located a witness who saw him as he fell from an adjacent building.”

Fake but accurate. My suspicion is that you’ll see more liberal media types taking this way out in the not to distant future.

Maybe, but even libs come into possession of information which is hazardous to their health. See Lance Herndon, of Arkancide fame.

As ratings plunge. All MSM buildings need to have their windows glued shut and ledges removed.

Thank you for bringing some civility to this thread. It sounds like it was most likely a suicide. Middle-aged, unemployed, recently separated from his wife (who was still employed by NBC). Very sad.

Friends described Wishnie as depressed since leaving NBC News last September — the circumstances were not clear — after 19 years there. They said he also had recently separated from his wife. “He seemed tired — very down,” said Pepi Andres, manager at the nearby Jefferson Market. “He seemed like he was out of it, I’m telling you. You can tell in the eyes.”

A possibility. But if he was tossed by somebody who knew what they were doing, it would have been from at least ten floors up. If so, he wouldn't have lived for a couple of hours longer, and he'd be tough to identify unless he had his wallet with him.

If they don’t do something to stop the suicides, they’ll have to increase the dead vote.

If he was *suspended*, he wouldn't have fallen.

Prayers up for the friends & family.

NO cheers, unfortunately.

Reading the ghoulish stuff on Roberts at other sites makes me want to just say God bless this guy's troubled soul and bless his family and friends, including people whose politics are different from mine. I’m getting sick of all the ugliness in our political life and, no, I don’t care who started it.

Yep. As much as I detest the liberal media, what it stands for and what it is trying to do to our country, I would not extend that animus to this person or his family or friends.
