PROJECT: COUNTERINTELLIGENCE
SUBJECT: ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION / US LOCAL RESPONSE
FILE: OPPOSITION RESEARCH
TRANSLATION: SPANISH to ENGLISH (w/BABELFISH)
Title: "VICTORY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS"
(Original Spanish: ("Victoria Para Indocumentados" )
Translated Text:
The decision of a US Federal Judge in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, was considered a victory for the illegal aliens when he declared unconstitutional a municipal ordinance that was established to punish and to fine those who employ and those who house people who cannot demonstrate their legal presence in the United States.
Although the resolution of judge James Munley responds to a resolution that was tried to implement in the city of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, this could take a front seat as a legal precedent regarding other anti-illegal alien measures in the United States, wherein the aliens themselves have been shuffling between different localities from national level.
Judge Munley in his resolution emphasized that measures cannot be adopted because they would violate the US constitutional guarantees that independently all the people have in this country. In addition, he clarified that only the federal government is the one in charge of regulating and making respect the immigration laws.
Local reactions
The reactions were not made wait for because the decision of Judge Munley will be taken as an example to reject similar resolutions in more than a twenty of localities in the US. Here, in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, local activists applauded the decision of the judge and hope that he is taken into account in the fight that has begun in the counties of Prince William County and Loudoun County in Virginia, jurisdictions which are looking to deny services to the illegal people and grants powers so that local police will be able to act like migra (I.C.E.) agents.
The today decision is a forward step in the efforts to recover the law while we maintain our tradition of justice and equality. We are pleased which the court recognizes these concepts and has made a decision to prevent the harmful effects that the implementation of this law would cause, said Jaime Contreras, president of the Coalition of Immigrants (illegals) of the National Capital (NCIC, by its abbreviations in English).
On the other hand, Jon Liss, Executive Director of Renters and United Workers of Virginia indicated that while Hazleton, PA has been first in also establishing this type of municipal ordinances, in our area they there has been adoption of similar measures and we will act. Counties and towns of Virginia now on notice: we will face you in the courts and in the streets and will win, emphasized Liss. Hazelton, they will appeal decision of the judge The decree in Hazleton was approved by the municipal council the last summer, but the demand made an injunction immediately that it prevented them to put it into play until waiting for the decision of the judge.
The municipal ordinance called Law of Lightening for Illegal Immigration prohibits to rent house to an illegal alien and punishes until up to 1,000 dollars of fine those employers that contract illegal alien and even they run the risk of which the suspension of license of operation of the business until by five years.
In addition it established the English as official language and did not allow the translation of any document, thus is related to a vital subject of public welfare of individuals.
On the other hand, the lawyers of the city of Hazleton and its own Mayor Louis J. Barletta indicated that they were not in agreement with the decision of the judge and expressed that their arguments were not based on reason, so that is why they will present/display an appeal before III the Court of Filadelfia (sic) (translators note, they dont even spell the US city in its English manner!) and they would even take it up to the US Supreme Court. <

Again, whenever the Hispanic press uses "indocumentado" (undocumented), I render it into "illegal alien", the more correct, contextual translation.
We can “thank” bill clinton for appointing this judge.
Just a slight digression, but, I had heard that particular Houston interview did not occur and is just running around the internet. Do you have the reference to the interview, such as an official transcript? Let’s get the facts—if you can provide, it would be appreciated. We need to be precise here on FR. Thanks!

Also in this case, the direct translation from the translation program is probably the best translation. Unless you are fluent in the language you are translating, just use the actual translation.
Thanks.
I just checked Snopes.com and you’re correct, it appears to be a hoax.
My apologies. Will ask the mods to delete the post.
Although it wouldn’t surprise me that this is the way illegals think, the interview is too “pat” to be real. It pushes too many of the right buttons. I suspect it’s Scrappleface.
it was a nice image while it lasted, though.
yes, I am fluent in Spanish, and use the babelfish to cut down on the translation time, then recheck the text and touch it up. thanks again, AM
When will the illegal aliens realize that civil rights does not mean they have the right to trample on Americans and the COTUS...
It is not in the nature of the vast majority of those people to do so.
I was wishing out loud...
If it wasnt for the usual suspects/bleeding hearts liberals we wouldnt have most of this problem..
The Rule of Law would be followed...well, maybe
Thanks for posting this. It's good to know what the other side is thinking/saying.
Peole like Fred Thompson are why we are in the mess we are in:
IN 1996, REMOVED HIGHER FINES FOR BUSINESSES WHICH HIRE ILLEGAL ALIENS
Sen. Thompson, in committee consideration of S.1664 protected businesses from having to pay higher fines when they are caught hiring illegal aliens. Under the idea that current fines were not enough of a deterrent against businesses cutting their labor costs by hiring illegal aliens, the Senate immigration subcommittee approved higher fines. Various study commissions have found that the willingness of U.S. businesses to hire illegal aliens is the No. 1 incentive for foreign workers to become illegal aliens here. But Sen. Thompson voted with a 10-8 majority in the Judiciary Committee to remove the higher fines from the 1996 legislation against illegal immigration.
TRIED TO KILL VOLUNTARY PILOT PROGRAMS FOR WORKPLACE VERIFICATION IN 1996
Sen. Thompson voted IN FAVOR of the Abraham Amendment to S.1664. He was part of a coalition of pro-business conservatives and liberal civil libertarians who tried to use the amendment to kill the establishment of voluntary pilot programs in high-immigration states. The programs were intended to assist employers in verifying whether people they had just hired had the legal right to work in this country. Such verification is considered by many experts to be an essential tool for withdrawing the job magnet from illegal aliens. The verification system established by S.1664 did not involve an ID card. Rather it provided that when new workers wrote down their Social Security number on an application, employers could phone into a national verification system to help assure that the number was a real number and belonged to the person giving it. In earlier smaller pilot programs, businesses had hailed the verification system for making it easier for them to avoid hiring illegal aliens. Sen. Thompson was unsuccessful in stopping the voluntary verification system. The Senate tabled the by a 54-46 vote.”
yes, this information came from NumbersUSA. If you are going to contest the information, please post a link that proves Fred voted otherwise.
KNOW your candidate.
Not to mention that FT is a longtime senior member of the CFR.
