Maybe if we all started driving SUV’s and started driving cars with low MPG we could solve this global cooling thing. Of course we should all invest in Halliburton. Of course maybe this global cooling will lead to the permanent cancellation of all bikini contests which should make all feminest happy.

Somehow the enviro-whackos will blame global cooling on global warming. Whatever the problem is, progress and capitalism must have caused it.

Global warming is good...global cooling is bad. Food production will drop dramatically.

But the scientists see few signs that government leaders anywhere are even prepared to take the simple measures of stockpiling food

Increasing food reserves is never a bad idea.

I remember my first grade teacher in Chicago trying to scare the hell out of us with Global Cooling. She handed out maps showing how glaciers would cover our city.

And people wonder why I'm so skeptical of Global Warming talk...

Has anybody else been paying attention to the sun lately? It's lost all it's spots, for quite some time now, and counting. Maybe they were right last time -- VBG

The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it.
The only thing missing from this article was the phrase "settled science".

The regions destined to feel its impact are the great wheat-producing lands of Canada and the U.S.S.R. in the North

The commies were so good at producing wheat they had to import it from us.

In England, farmers have seen their growing season decline by about two weeks since 1950, with a resultant overall loss in grain production estimated at up to 100,000 tons annually.

I wonder why we never hear about higher temperatures and CO2 being good for crop production.

>>Newsweek 1975:

“The central fact is that after three quarters of a century of extraordinarily mild conditions, the earth’s climate seems to be cooling down. Meteorologists disagree about the cause and extent of the cooling trend, as well as over its specific impact on local weather conditions. But they are almost unanimous in the view that the trend will reduce agricultural productivity for the rest of the century. If the climatic change is as profound as some of the pessimists fear, the resulting famines could be catastrophic.”<<

Historically, 1976 was destined to be the last year of a flat spot (not cooling) that began in 1945.

People that talk about CO2 as being the dominant heating factor don’t have a good explanation for this flat period.

Its worth noting though that the ocean levels continued to rise during the 1945-1976 flat spot.

I wonder if there is anyone on this board that would be old enough to remember the previous Global Warming and Global Cooling ‘scares’ that occurred before this one. My understanding is that there were many of them.
