BOOK RECOMMENDATION
dmd25: I too recently read THE LONE SURVIVOR by Marcus Luttrell an eyewitness account of Operation Redwing and the lost heroes of Seal Team 10 and all I can say is WOW . . . This is a definite MUST MUST MUST READ!!
In the epilogue, Luttrell has this to say about his meeting with PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH:
. . . I walked into the Oval Office. The president of the United States, George W. Bush, stood up to greet me.
Its an honor to meet you, sir, I said.
And the president gave me that little smile of his, which I took to mean, were both Texans, right? And he said, a little bit knowlingly, Its my pleasure to meet you, son.
I shook his hand, and he had a powerful handshake. And he looked me right in the eye with a hard, steady gaze. . . Our handshake was prolonged and, for me, profound. This was my commander in chief, and right now I had his total attention, as I would have every time he spoke to me. President Bush does that naturally, speaking as if there is no one else in the room for him. This was one powerful man.
I remember I wanted to tell him how all my buddies love him, believe in him, and that were out there ready to bust our asses for him anytime he needs us. But he knows that. Hes our guy.
. . . President Bush seemed to know what I was thinking. And he slapped me on the shoulder and said, Thank you, Marcus. Im proud of you, son.
I have no words to describe what that meant to me, how much it all mattered.

I know that people often heard from him in times past if they contacted him. We sent a card to him after his surgery this time and did not hear back--though that didn't surprise us in the least--I am sure the volume of mail was huge! By all accounts Tony is a very well-liked man, and I suspect that he was deluged with mail/gifts!
For which we all are extremely thankful!!
I agree it is a great photo I did post it see post 15.
How are you my friend - any news of your mother?
I am so sorry! That is the second time I have done that! I looked for it but wasn't thorough apparently. So sorry, Snugs!
Thank you. However, I wish you had used RED for the X!
Thanks snugs for the wonder Dose. This is truly the only place to be “Sanity Island”.
That is the big thing you notice, his hair is thinning and has more gray. He seemed strong and on his toes, able to think on his feet. He looked good.
Wonderful pictures tonight. Thank you so much for all that you do.
I especially like the first picture in post no. 22.
Isn’t it nice to see young women carefully groomed for a meeting with the President - and they’ve got on real, for real, shoes!!!
Hi snugs, could I please have the photo in post 44 on my toaster?
I can redo it...
LOL ... WOW ..so weird to see that. It’s my former parrot, Max, who now has a wonderful home with 4 other parrots in a big bird loving family.
Snugs/Eleanor & All... I’m sure Dr. Deb wanted to include You etc... in her # 59!
;)
I’m off to eat dinner!
Thanks for the Dose, snugs. The Houlihan girls made my day as they are dressed appropriately for meeting with the President; no flip flops and no pantsuits...
Is it is Charlie that is one of the photos you sent me and I posted about 2 or 3 years ago?
LOL
Beautiful toaster! thanks snugs!
