Yep those "free traders" were right. It's just a 'trade' agreement and those international 'institutions' have no authority, nope none at all....

While one can debate the merits of the Simpsons, there is simply no debating the attack on US sovereignty by the UN.

Case No. D2007-0760

Based upon what clause in the constitution? And if in recent legislation, what and where?
I do not recognize that authority.
Another example of an international institution exerting authority over a United States citizen.
Your friends are busy interfering in the lives of Americans.
Cyber-squatting is soooo 90’s.
assume that you have a daughter named Svetlana and your last name is X. Someone (let's call him Larry F.) comes along and registers a domain named SvetlanaX-is-a-slattern.com, and Photoshops your daughter's head on a bunch of female porn stars engaged in what porn stars do for a living. You take Larry F. to (U.S.) court and legally (and justifiably) win a judgment compelling him to cease and desist. Larry F. closes his website and moves his operation to Belarus (or finds a registered agent to do so--no need to complicate the hypothetical), creating a website named SvetlanaX-is-a-slattern.by. How do you propose enforcing your (U.S.) cease and desist order?
You got it. Thanks for posting this. I'm teaching information policy in the Winter and cover international domain name resolution issues. Students always think that these bodies are necessary, until you ask them which of their Constitutional rights did they give up when they chose a domain name.
Cybersquatting and holding domain names ransom is one thing; giving up your rights is another.
May be of interest.
I'm guessing that when you register a website, you consent to binding arbitration in this forum. It is a contract, like any other.
Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.
What do I know?
>>The UN has NO jurisdiction over a US citizen. He can just IGNORE them and they’ll (Twentieth Century Fox and the UN) will just dry up and blow away.

Its a very serious thing when we sign a treaty - it becomes part of the supreme law of the land along with the constitution.
In this case, WIPO was created in 1967 to protect copyrights and patents, largely at the request of the United States because we create so much more intellectual property than others.
There is pretty much no chance of killing it as its a key part of our strategy to prevent intellectual property infringement around the world. Its also the only part of the U.N. that consistently makes money and isn’t frivolous with its spending.
Much of the U.N. sucks but WIPO is generally on our side.
So, you are supporting the cybersquatters who register a domain name with the hope of selling it later to a big company.
loser
The UN can go do anatomically unnatural things to itself.
Order away, UNlawful buffoons.
Your troops don't operate within US borders.
Aside from the fact that he legally bought it.
