(McClellanville) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards says the 70 cents per hour increase in the minimum wage is not enough.
The former North Carolina senator told reporters in McClellanville Wednesday he wants other presidential candidates to join him in calling for an increase in the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour by 2012.
Tuesday's increase boosted the minimum wage to $5.85 per hour.
Edwards made a similar call Monday night in the Democratic presidential debate in Charleston. He says all he heard was bragging about Congressional action.

I think he needs to raise it to $100,000,000 per hour so we can all be rich and nobody in America will have to work and can pay for all the healthcare they want. He needs to reduce those Bubble-Up and Rainbow Stew prices also.

Edwards can start with advocating a pay raise for the military personnel protecting his sorry hide 24/7.

This would of course drive the unemployment rate through the roof.
But Edwards and his fellow travelers on the left don't really care about the consequences of their economic foolishness. All they care about is pandering to the ignorant.

We should raise the minimum wage for workers to $9.50 an hour only if we can set the maximum wage for trial lawyers at $9.50.

One of the rats in the last rat debate, I believe it was Hillary but I may be wrong, proposed raising the minimum wage for teachers to $40,000 per year.

This would be the perfect way to catch employers that hire illegals. Any small business that manages to stay in business after this raise must not be hiring legal citizens.

That sure would cure US employers from wanting to hire those cheap illegal immigrants, wouldn’t it? </sarcasm>

Wonderful! Is he paying for it? Minimum wage is not thier to support a family, It’s thier to support young incoming youth to the job market. If you haven't gotten a better paying job and your a 35 year old father of three and your working at mc ee dees thiers something wrong with this picture! America is the land of opportunity, but opportunity is not going to drag you out of your house and give you something for nothing! YOU HAVE TO EARN IT!

He’s such a loser. Now I know why Dennis Prager keeps talking about how college makes people dumb. I’m beginning to think it is so.

Why not $25 an hour?
You think small. If raising it to $9.50 is so good, why not raise it to $100,000,000 an hour and solve all problems. We can buy all the health care we want...everybody will be rich and convert over to be evil conservative rich people.
I always ask that of liberals but they get irked saying thats insane it would drive businesses out, nobody would hire, inflation would skyrocket. So I ask them at what level of minumum wage raising that they start becoming conservatives spouting conservative arguments? Its obviously less than $100,000,000 an hour. So I try to do a reverse search to find that magic number where inflation stops and businesses don't slow down hiring and businesses can raise costs without being affected.
I never find that magic number with any specificity. It always ends up being vague with people storming off.

This effort to raise the minimum wage only encourages teens to drop out of school. When the wages go up, teens are attracted to jobs that bring immediate rewards that puts school out of the picture. As these people continue on, they find out they are under-educated for parental responsibilities. Then, the children of these parents suffer with the state picking up the tab.
I thought people should know even if this small matter seems to be swept under the rug.
