No guns please, we're liberals . . .
As soon as today's "Good Morning America" began to tease an upcoming how-to segment on protecting against home invasion, I immediately suspected the show wouldn't discuss one obvious measure: obtaining fireams and learning how to use them.
And sure enough . . .
GMA ran the segment in the wake of the horrific home-invasion in Connecticut in which the the wife and two daughters of a prominent doctor were killed and the man badly beaten. An expert was brought in to discuss various measures, and Chris Cuomo added some suggestions of his own. They ranged from keeping shrubbery low, to installing lights, alarms and air chimes, to putting peepholes in the door, to creating a "safe room" to which a family can flee.
But never did GMA breathe a word about firearms. My favorite moment was Cuomo's Cactus Defense. That's Chris' hand pointing at that lethal little mini-cactus in the window planter.
GOOD MORNING AMERICA CO-HOST CHRIS CUOMO: Something as simple as cactus. Sounds simple, right? Oh, they wouldn't care about that, right? But they do. They think about these things. Chimes, outside the window.

I don't know, Chris. If your home were being invaded, what would you rather have handy: a spider cactus or a Smith & Wesson?

Lay a bed of nails in front of your windows, like Bronson did in one of the Death Wish movies.
I’m not surprised. What ain’t agin’ the law in CA?
One of the scariest things about these people is that they are determined to apply their home protection techniques to our national security.
Does Kah-lee-foryna have a 10 cactus per household limit?
Is there a seven-day wait to purchase a cactus for home defense?
Hmmmm, maybe all the illegal aliens crossing the border from Mexico are actually fleeing dangerous cacti — there are alot of them in the Mexican desert.
I lived in a high crime area for a short time up North, and one of few who never had a problem. because....
I was known as a former law enforcement officer surely to have a gun and trained in it’s use
and secondly had a cute cocker spaniel (scary huh!)
thirdly - my wife daily worked out at the gym and was learning kick boxing (and that scares me!)
but no cactus or chimes
In a sane world, the media would be running stories about the millions of crimes thwarthed annually by citizens with firearms. Instead we get nonsense about cati and windchimes. And a too large percentage of the population laps it up.
Well SURE! Anyone can see that's an ASSAULT CACTUS.
Its a miracle you survived. Until this GMA report came out, I was convinced door and window locks, motion detectors, and a few .40 caliber pistols were pretty effective deterrents, especially combined with the occassional sounds of gunfire in the woods behind my home when I am plinking. Now I see how naive I have been. I'm headed to the local greenhouse. Now I realize that the plants around the home
What a bunch o’ damn idiots.
With advice like this, GMA stands for ‘Go Murder Americans’.
I remember reading a Dear Abby years back by a woman who claimed that all over her neighbors must love her windchimes, because they all keep stealing them at night...
Abby broke it to her as gently as she could...
Yeah. They really stick it to us...
Remember that California is full of liberals, they don’t care when children get “pricked”.
No problem with that.....

GMA is a menace, giving this dangerous advice. I’m giving them a call today and telling them so!
If a bad guy broke in his house, the dog would abet him. Fortunately my son has a gun in every room of the house but is hoping that his dog doesn't learn how to use them.
They are not being stupid. They know that people who hear about the home invasion are going to think about steps to protect themselves, and this $h*t is to lead them away from thought of guns.
Hehehehe.....damn good idea ya got there!
