GMA Home Protection Tips: Chimes, Mini-Cactus, But No Guns
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

No guns please, we're liberals . . .

As soon as today's "Good Morning America" began to tease an upcoming how-to segment on protecting against home invasion, I immediately suspected the show wouldn't discuss one obvious measure: obtaining fireams and learning how to use them.

And sure enough . . .

GMA ran the segment in the wake of the horrific home-invasion in Connecticut in which the the wife and two daughters of a prominent doctor were killed and the man badly beaten. An expert was brought in to discuss various measures, and Chris Cuomo added some suggestions of his own. They ranged from keeping shrubbery low, to installing lights, alarms and air chimes, to putting peepholes in the door, to creating a "safe room" to which a family can flee.

But never did GMA breathe a word about firearms. My favorite moment was Cuomo's Cactus Defense. That's Chris' hand pointing at that lethal little mini-cactus in the window planter.

GOOD MORNING AMERICA CO-HOST CHRIS CUOMO: Something as simple as cactus. Sounds simple, right? Oh, they wouldn't care about that, right? But they do. They think about these things. Chimes, outside the window.

View video here.

I don't know, Chris. If your home were being invaded, what would you rather have handy: a spider cactus or a Smith & Wesson?

Thanks. We get along very, very well. They have been very good to me, and are very low maintenance, especially the Austrian guys! Though I try not to play favorites, I will admit privately that the Glocks are my favorites.

. . . and explain the reasons to have a gun are almost exactly the same reason to have a gun.

Yeah, I guess they would be . . .

It is good to have a number of friends, IMO, so that if some have to travel on business, you are not lonely.

Yeah, well most of my friends are black. I don’t discriminate, but the liberals don’t care....

My parents live in a really nice community in Mass. In 1990, I was home from the service, on my way to moving to VT as a civilian. Looked out the window at midnight and some punks were breaking into our neighbors’ cars.
Got our my Sig 9mm and walked up behind them and chambered a round. Asked, “is there something I can help you with?” I think they both wet their pants stumbling out of the car and running away. Too funny.
Fortunately for me, I didn’t have to use the gun because I didn’t realize that, even when passing through The People’s Republic, you have to register your handgun or face mandatory prison time. Gotta love those libs!

“I don’t know, some of those cacti look like they would attract gay burglars.”

Use the PC term.

“Turd burglars.”

If I ever turn to a life of crime, I'll just look for the houses with cacti in the window - and wear my carharts.

"Hmm that must be the safe room, the one with all the cacti around it. Stay away from that one guys. On second thought [knocks on room door,] Hey mister, you just stay in there and tell us where all yhour good stuff is, okay? Won't nobody get hurt."

In the unlikely event that burglars get past my gates, window bars and big house dogs, I’ll be patching sheetrock and buying new carpet, ‘cause its gonna get real messy fast, no questions asked.

I modified my Mossberg 500 five and one to fire ten rounds of Aguila buckshot. It will still chamber the regular shells and it didn’t cost anything except the weld job. I don’t know how to weld very well.
I haven’t gotten around to work on the next project. This will be a seven and one Mossberg converted to fourteen shots.

I’m taking delivery of a Mateba .357 Auto Revolver tomorrow. I really have to stop buying the weird stuff but I’m having too much fun. Maybe the next will be a match for my .36 Navy Colt. I always wanted to strap on two matching guns just to play around.

What leftard idiots. Or, perfect victims.

Actually GMA may be giving out good advice to their target audience.

Do we really want watchers of GMA armed? Carrying a gun requires a minimum level of intelligence that GMA watchers may not possess.

Excellent point. I am ashamed I did not look at it that way.

I see that the NH RINOs have their undies in a knot. The comments posts to the article are good.
