F-16s deployed from the Oklahoma Air National Guard's 138th Fighter Wing were involved in a strike on terrorist training camp Saturday, the U.S. Air Force reported Tuesday.
The jet attack destroyed an al-Qaeda training camp southwest of Baghdad, the Air Force says in a press release.
The 138th Fighter Wing is based in Tulsa. About 190 people from the unit were sent to Iraq in June.
In a coordinated attack, Air Force joint air terminal controllers on the ground cleared four F-16s to drop 500-pound and 1,000-pound guided bombs on the terror complex near Karbala, the release says.
The precision guided weapons destroyed the target, damaging al-Qaeda's ability to mount attacks on the Iraqi government, coalition forces and civilians, the release says.
Awesome.

Good job, guys!
My KITTIES are in Tulsa. Somehow, they are behind this. :-)
This Tulsan is pleased.
You’re doing fine, Oklahoma! Oklahoma, OK!
You mean to tell me that the Air National Guard fliers may actually be called on to be war fighters? I thought the Guard was a place for future Presidents to hide out from the bloodshed. Somebody get Howard Dean and John Kerry on the phone dammit.
Have you got a bigger version of that?
