FORT LAUDERDALE - Mayor Jim Naugle issued a public apology on the steps of City Hall Tuesday afternoon, but it wasn't the apology the gay community was looking for.
Naugle apologized for underestimating the problem of men having sex with each other in public restrooms, and urged people to call police to complain when they come upon it. He also said Broward County leads the nation in the incidence of new AIDS cases involving men having sex with men, and questioned whether the county tourism office should be welcoming them here.
Naugle alerted the media that he was holding a news conference that would include "an apology.''

This is funny. They expected a different kind of apology.

I'd be anxious to hear his apology regarding muslims which represent the #1 evil for America, while homosexuals and their agenda for America is #2.
Both groups are enemies of polite society and should be eradicated rather than honored in any way, shape or form!
It’s become so bad that opposing homosexual sex in public bathrooms is Homophobic, Intolerant and Hatemongering.
Kudos to the mayor. It's a rare public official who recognizes that his responsibility is to the community rather than to a small bunch of homosexuals.

Wouldn’t responsible gay folks ALSO frown on both public-bathrooms sex AND unprotected sex? Why are the self-appointed “gay community leaders” picking THIS fight?

That’s a pretty normal reaction - most people don’t bring up sodomy or other particular sex acts in discussion. We get kind of used to talking about things online that sometimes don’t translate well to offline.

What’s he supposed to say? I’m sorry a bunch of perverts wanted to get together in public restrooms and do things far more disgusting than the buildings original intent? I’m sorry the issue is such that I was forced to comment on it? Children use these restrooms, why is this man apologizing?
