Putin is a fascist, and must be treated as one: no appeasement, no backing down. Fascists fear strength and loathe weakness. Announce that we have decided not to redeploy as many forces out of Europe, go ahead with the Poland and Czech radar sites, add more sites in the Balkans. These can be used to pressure Russia going forward. The establishment of Putin’s own “Hitler youth” movement seals the deal. Russia IMO is a principle architect of the Islamo-fascist movement, just as it was during the Cold War, using the Nazi ideology prevalent in Islamic discourse to its own advantage. I say this because without Russia support, supply and training of these movements they would cease to exist as a threat to the West going forward. Russia is using the Islamo-fascist movement as an extension of its own foreign policy. I also believe autocratic Russia, with its massive foreign espionage program, contributes greatly to the so-called “anti-war” movement in this country. How they do this is obscure, but I imagine it has to do with infiltration and manipulation of ANSWER and other similar organizations, the MSM and certain figures in the blogosphere and Hollywood. IMO the Bush-Putin Maine Summit was intended by Bush as a last look at Putin to determine whether he was enemy or friend. IMO Bush decided he is an enemy and will proceed appropriately. This will eventually lead to the bombing of Iran, and a more aggressive military posture in Europe. As well, the first steps to the establishment of a worldwide “Democracy Organization” to marginalize China and Russia going forward. The increasingly aggressive posture of socialist governments in Latin America seems illogical unless supported by powerful allies. This is the Russian version of “soft power”, absent a predominant military. That can come later, and quickly, once the economy is sufficiently revived.

Ping to a few people, apologies if you have already seen this, and thanks to Thunder90 for the original ping as well...

MIT-Elephant said; "Breaking news from the late 1930’s."

Exactly my thoughts on this...

From the article, "[Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski stated] Or is it [the threats from Russia] something serious that we need to take into consideration -- do we have to take care and be afraid? So far it's too early to answer this."

Forgive me as I'm not in the military or diplomatic relations, but I believe it is not too early to take threats from a man like Putin seriously. Should we let it deter us? No, definitely not. However, I hope this is rhetoric as well and that behind closed doors our military and their advisors are taking it seriously. [I would also seriously hope that despite his "friendship" with Putin -- you know, the whole "I've looked into his eyes" stuff -- that Bush is at the very least extremely cautious about trusting him...]

With Putin making alliances with Syria, Iran, Venezuela, China, etc.. etc... I seriously see a pattern developing in these actions and it's not good, IMHO. Call me paranoid -- as I'm sure some who show up on this thread will -- but I think it could spell a heap of trouble for the U.S. and other freedom-loving nations and peoples if we DON'T take this seriously.

[I personally would like at the very least to see a little more effort on reinforcing our infrastructure (manufacturing, and other necessities we currently are importing from China), as well as strengthening our own security here at home (increasing border patrols, building the security fence, or whatever it takes to assure we are not allowing foreign combatants onto our soil -- after all we are at war!). Even if I'm wrong, it wouldn't be a bad idea to at least try to ensure that we are capable of maintaining our strength should we find ourselves in a worse position than we are already.]

Actually, Russia had the largest defense budget to date this year (to inflation) since World War II.

Putin is still officially a member of the Soviet Communist Party, and its successor, the KPRF. We are dealing with a Marxist-Leninist with an image team and a makeover.

Putin not only threatens but carries out his neo-Stalinist threats, as in the case of Estonia, Georgia, plus numerous Russian reporters who used to be critical of of his dictatorial réegime and are now dead.

Here are some hypothetical questions relating to Poland and the three Baltic states relating to Putin's dictatorship:

What if Putin ordered Russian tank divisions to invade all four independent nations. Would there be a swift, united NATO response forcing a Russian withdrawal?

If Iran & Syria, two rouge terrorist exporting states, which Moscow supports with all sorts of military hardware, were to trigger war with Israel, in conjunction with Iran attacking oil tankers in the Persian Gulf as a diversion, what would the West's reaction be, if while the Middle & Near East are going up in flames, Israeli cities are being rocketed by Hezballah terrorists based in southern Lebanon with rocket launchers supplied to Syria by Russia and all of a sudden Russia invades Eastern Poland (as Moscow did in 1939) coupled with Russian naval forces effectively blockading the three Baltic states - until Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania fully accept Putin's demands.

It's all so reminiscent of a previous era when Finland was being invaded & bombed by the Russians in 1939 and finally the brave Finns were forced to relinquish Finnish territory at the end of the Winter War, a war the Russians paid dearly for starting, as well as the defending Finns. After Russia's aggression and theft of Finish soil, it was eastern Poland turn to be jointly invaded not just by Moscow but by Berlin too, then the Baltic states fell to the Russian communist horde and the wholesale murders started by the NKVD, coupled with thousands deported, one way to the frozen hell of Siberia.

How would the White House and Number 10 react to the Kremlin's blatant aggression in Eastern Europe, without going nuclear?

You can bet Putin and his KGB thugs are pondering these 'possibilities', while we are combating Russian supported Iranian and Syrian trained terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Keep in mind also, how many of the jihadi terrorists were trained by KGB, most of the leaders, Arafat was, Zawahiri was and many more.

Stay alert and prepared, read the communist manifesto that I posted here and you see the entire plan.

Russia’s hawks want this as the “heaven manna”. They beleive in America aggresiveness. And now you will give them a prove.
IMO what you say will bring all us to the limited nuclier war in Europe which may end the history of Poland and few other new members of NATO.

It was Soviets not Russians. In ranks of Soviet army was many ukranians for example. Stalin the leader of USSR of those times was Georgian.

After Russia’s aggression and theft of Finish soil, it was eastern Poland turn to be jointly invaded not just by Moscow but by Berlin too, then the Baltic states fell to the Russian communist horde and the wholesale murders started by the NKVD, coupled with thousands deported, one way to the frozen hell of Siberia.==

Soviet agreesion. And there were no theft because those Finns signed the separate peace treaty with Bolshevicks in 1920th in which they “stole” those lands. In 1939 Soviet simply got it back.
Same way with Poland they signed thier treaty with Bolshevicks in 1922 and “stole” good chunks of Belorus and Ukraine. In 1939 they lost back it to Soviets.

What if Putin ordered Russian tank divisions to invade all four independent nations. Would there be a swift, united NATO response forcing a Russian withdrawal?==

IMO there will be no response at all except agry rethoric in press because the response will mean that London, Paris AND EVEN wASHINGTON dc will die in the thermonuclier flames.
I don’t mean to be aggressive but let us talk seriously here for a moment. AFAIK you neither Europians nor americans will not sacrifice thier own people for sake of baltic states. That is the main issue here. Do you ready to trade lifes your own family members for sake to punish Russia? I think you are not.
So that is it. Russia has the free hand here until she touches the territories of the VIP states.

Comrade, how would you like a free trip to Siberia - during the Russian winter, courtesy of Premier Putin?

Your Radio Moscow style propaganda concerning Finland and the Winter War are not up the Kremlin's high standards of 100% absolute lies. Current rating is only 97.8%. You must apply yourself for the sake of Premier Putin's Motherland, as all the loyal Nashi commissars clones diligently do while currently away at summer camp.

You must do better Comrade, really, or it's a long, snowy train ride this coming winter to the northern most portions of Putin's Peoples Paradise :)
