MCMINNVILLE, Ore., July 22 (UPI) -- Two 13-year-old Oregon boys are facing serious sex charges for allegedly slapping female classmates' bottoms as a form of horseplay.
Police arrested Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison of McMinnville and if convicted could be permanently marked as sex offenders, The Portland Oregonian said Sunday. The teens also could spend as long as 10 years in juvenile detention if found guilty.
While the boys' parents have opposed such a harsh penalty, McMinnville District Aattorney Bradley Berry said such youthful acts could have longstanding consequences for the alleged victims.
"These cases are devastating to children," he said. "They are life-altering cases."
Interviews with the boys' fellow students found other teens were engaging in similar behavior at the time and two of the female victims have since recanted their statements.
The Oregonian said the boys are due in court on Aug. 20 to answer to all charges stemming from the February event.
“However, we need to ask ourselves why we have such a coarse culture and why children behave like this, and why parents think it’s no big deal.”
Why children behave like this? Because they’re children!
If you think that kids now are doing stupid things because of modern culture, then you must have been in a coma through childhood.
What we need around here is some sort of draconian sentence for posting such nauseating drivel. Let me guess, the Duke Lacrosse boys had it coming too.
"He don't know me vewy well, do he?"
That is tragic.
This was posted a couple of days ago. I’ll make the same comment that I made then:
THIS IS OREGON!!! If they would have been caught in the restroom performing oral sex on each other, it would have been dismissed as merely expressing love via an alternative lifestyle.
Oh, thanks, I misread the article. I thought they were (correctly) saying that the boy’s lives would be altered by the charges... Somehow I think the girls will recover. The boys will be branded as sex offenders for the rest of their lives. Hmmm... Whose life is altered there?!
Tracy Zimmerman. I wanted her to have my children at age 12. Too bad I didn’t know the first thing about making children.
In my town the generations talk about each other. You can always find out what someone is up to from 30 years ago. I hear Tracy has about 6 kids now with three different daddys. Weighs approx 450lbs. Her (now) husband weighs 98lbs and sports a sweet mullet. I don’t think he owns a shirt. They both contemplate suicide on a daily basis.
Re the quote in your post....
I ABSOLUTELY would consider a slap to my butt a sexual assault! There are men on this board that think this is an okay thing?
Far as I’m concerned it was way worse than a speedy trial issue. It is a BAD judge issue.
Anyone know his “orientation”? Can’t believe a straight man would bother prosecuting horse play like this.
When I was that age, the girl I did it to, kicked me in the balls. I sang soprano for a week!
"These cases are devastating to children," he said. "They are life-altering cases."
This is a sure sign of a metrosexual DA.
It depends on whether one was 13 years of age, and if you had nice buttocks. LOL
That girl has an unpleasant life ahead of her. If you can tolorate the ick factor, go ahead and click, as long as you have use anti adware/spyware software. Maybe it’s something law inforcement should see.
No it isn't, it is a thread about the same subject, but with a totally different source and text. This thread is based on a UPI story, the other thread is from the Oregonian.
Dear God, what are they THINKING? Arrested - two DAYS in jail without even seeing a lawyer? What the heck is going on there. Five days in jail at 13 years old, without even a conviction - for slapping a girl on the butt? It they had raped a girl it might be appropriate, but for slapping her on the butt and running on down the hall? We have a Nifong contender.
Sorry you can't just pute "eqsue" on the end of a word and claim it as your own. That would be AlGoresque.
You are a lunatic. Geez.
I’ve been telling my sister that it was time to bring in law enforcement, but the family history is so bad, that I don’t think that the women will be treated as credible. The law was never brought into the situation before, but it is no longer a secret. This goes back generations and involved lesbian incest and mental illness (probably as a result of the incest).
