I am a subscriber to a sports website in Chicago. Normally it's a good place to go to get views on my favorite Chicago teams, but unfortunately it's also a liberal snake pit as well. These guys are so hypocritical it defies description.
I recently received a response to a message about the low approval ratings and of course they turn it around and blame it on the GOP (to which some it does rightfully belong). I am going to post this person's response in hopes that freepers can help me come up with a good reply. The message is as follows:
-------------------------------------------------------
Yes, the approval rating of Congress is lower than the president]s. But have you stopped to wonder why?
First of all, lets separate the House from Senate bodies. The Democrats hold a decisive majority to act and pass on legislation reflecting the will of the American public as expressed by last Novembers voting. On the Senate side, the gains gave the Democrats a majority, but one that does not have (as does the House) the force to carry out the will expressed by the electorate. In short, moving legislation coming from the House, faces an uphill battle, as the reality to pass legislation with simple majorities and beat back a Bush veto with the necessary 67 votes required, well, that hasnt happened, and most likely, wont happen, given the entrenched attitude about protecting Bush.
So, the approval rating is right. BUT it reflects more than (as you seem to infer) disapproval of Democrats.
True, the Senate Democrats own blame in the perception and assessment the American public holds and expressed. There ARE Democrats who dont have the cajones to go to the mattresses when it they should ---just as there are Republicans who say they are distancing themselves from the p[resident]s stay-the-course policy, but dont put their vote where their mouth is when critical end-the-war Iraq votes come up. They, more than the Democrats, are obstructionist when it comes to changing the failed policy being followed in Iraq. Their loyalty blinds them and thus they confuse supporting the troops with supporting the p[resident]. Its more of the Sara Taylors statement before The Judiciary Committee: (I paraphrase) I took an oath to support the President. (rather than I took an oath to uphold the Constittion !!!)
Thats not all of it.
If youve been following the last six years, you KNOW what Bush said about changing the climate in Washington. You KNOW he said he was a unificator and not a divider. You KNOW he locked up (to deny access) the records of past presidents, including his own National Guard pretend service documents as well as personal records ----like his Yale dissertation, or his cocaine use. You KNOW he had an Intelligence within the Intelligence Agency (The Office of Special Plans headed up by Wolfolwitz and Feith) that was secretly manipulating policy to fit the case for the Iraq war. You KNOW the use of the 16 word statement uttered by Bush in his State of the Union speech, even though it was FALSE. You KNOW Collin Powell lied by providing misleading information about the chemical and biological weapons Iraq had. You KNOW Cheney lied when he said Iraq was responsible for the attacks of 9-11. You KNOW the continual litany of lies and misinformation spewed out like foam out of a rabid dogs mouth, and the out-right crimes being perpetrated in our name. BushCo continues to feed on its perversion of the truth.
The American people are mad.
The people KNOW what should be done on issues. And because they do, they're not bashful about indicting the lot of politicians. The people want out of Iraq, they want to do away with the secret deals and secret prisons and the sanctioned torture BushCo gives voice to disapproving but has enabled and practiced. (Can you say Abu Grahib?). The people don't want the obstruction of congressional investigations. They don't want more lies poured on them as if they were stupid. They KNOW the truth has more force to cleanse and heal that its worth bringing it to light. Theyve had enough of the deception that compounds the already corrupt.
The people don't want the U.S. kidnapping of people off the street of other countries said to be "targets" and violating the sovereignty of those countries in doing so. The people want a stop to the invasion of their privacy and the devious illegal means used to invade it (Can you say Ashcroft and Comey vs. Gonzales and goons?). The people want their government's resources to fund universal health care and to repair lives (Can you say Katrina and Walter Reed?) rather than spent on ways to kill and maim and destroy human-kind. The people want competence by those charged with decision-making responsibilities affecting us. They don't want Chernoff's "gut" the barometer for announcing threats and instilling fear. They want competence framing pronouncements like that. The people KNOW and want their politicians to know right from wrong, not the Vitters, DeLays, Cunninghams, Gonzales', Abrammoffs, Foleys, Cheneys and on and on and on....and on . And yes, there IS so much more.
The low confidence / approval rating reflects a bundle of things. But be sure of one thing. We, as a people and a country, would NOT BE IN THIS FRICKIN' MESS if it wasn't for the idiot in the White House. Yes, idiot. He works for me / us, and I for one want him gone.
I am ashamed of what has been done in our name and I find it is past the time when the House should move on Impeachment Hearings against Bush and Cheney.
That is the ONLY way to separate lies from truth. Anything short of that process remains a we said they said contest.
Time to Impeach Bush & Cheney.
---------------------------------------------
After a couple of days I will gather all that is shared, condense it and send a reply to this "ahem" gentleman.
Thanks for all your help.
With democrats we have come to the point where the normal thing is to call for government to step in and do everything, for new and more laws, and forever to spend more and new money
no matter.
It is the normal thing to support abortionand to ask why abortion wasnt covered as an option by so-called serious journalists in a silly moviea comedy about being knocked up. Its hard to take them seriously but still we must recognize what has become normal today.
It is normal to regulate industry out of existence, to claim environmental concerns without basis in fact, to support unionsthrough their paid for politiciansstripping away the right to a secret ballot as to whether workers want that union to represent them.
It is normal to provide bilingual education that isnt bilingual at allbut guarantying failure in America for those who do not learn to speak English.
It is normal to teach socialism and liberal liturgy in public schools.
It is normal to avoid enforcing the law on our borders.
It is normal to assume white athletes raped a black stripper with no basis in fact.
It is normal to promise people anythingand everythingpaid for by taking earned money from productive citizens through taxes.
It is normal to assume every lawsuit filed alleging discrimination on the basis of race or sex has merit with no basis in fact.
It is normal to ban speech that is not deemed politically correct by the masters of politically correct speechfrom such lofty perches as Professors in Womens Studies or African American Studiescourses of study in academia that prepares students for a host of career choices rivaled by none other.
It is normal to push for legislation to remove or limit gun possession in citizens hands regardless of innocencewhich has the effect of making certain criminals are always better armed.
It is normal to castigate religionparticularly if its a fundamental Christian religion and mock, vilify and hate those who believe the bible to be the inspired word of God.
It is normal to spit on troops.
It is normal to send money to our enemies if youre code pink.
It is normal to shut down drilling for oil, prevent refineries and power plants from being built.
It is normal to control private property.
It is normal for men to marry menas in exchanging vows pretending to be a couplesomehow equates to centuries of ceremony for purpose, for commitment.
It is normal to hate conservatives and all things conservative.
It is normal to not be responsible for ones own actions and behavior.
It is normal to eliminate competition in school and youth sports.
It is normal to revise history.
It is normal to bitch and whine about everything going wrong in ones life while not doing a damn thing about it, doing nothing productive or of value.
It is normal to use tax dollars to fund abortions, doctors visits and prescription medications for any and all ailments or perceived ailments anyone and everyone haswith no need to pay or ever think about paying it back.
It is normal to blame mankindparticularly exploitive Americans for causing global warmingeven if that is no way true.
It is normal to dodge the draft during warand in one casebecome the President of the United States.
It is normal for our politicians to accept monies from any source and return special favors and never be held accountable for the payoff, the kick-backsnot even for the selling of our national security. It is more important to convict a man for forgetting about a conversation with one reporter out of a hundred. It is more important to convict border control agents for shooting the butt of a drug dealer. Damn.
It is normal to treat other religions with deference and respecteven special accommodations for training and prayer in particularfor Islamin the same public schools where a student who wears a cross around her neck can get her suspended.
It is normal to expect the judiciary to rule the flavor of the day, the politically correct way mandated by the masters mentioned above rather than in constitutional law.
It is normal to be abnormal but call it being normaland making sure to publicize your abnormality as much as you can.
It is normal for the vile, hate-filled leftthe America-hating, profanity saturated, dwellers in self induced importance, socialists whose true aim is to take from you and me and give to those who dont give, sometimes ever, and chooses to avoid work and responsibilityfor those who worship their ideal of an authoritarian based government dictating every part of life, for the people who kill babies but hate capital punishment for murderersto be put in the place of all stupid peopleaway from any serious public debate or discussion. It would be normal to laugh at them if they werent so serious about affecting our country, if they werent the ones teaching our childrenif they werent the ones elected to congress and as the Speaker of the Houseit is normal to retire them once and for all time back to wherever they came fromas long as it is out of our hearing range.
To those mindless sheep on the left, it is normal to see other countries as superior regardless of their unemployment, inflation, tax rates and lack of population growth as people flee such loony socialist utopias, escaping oppression, imprisonment or early deathto our country. Who wouldnt like to live in the sub-tropic Eden of Cuba?
For many, being misguided to vote for democrats (socialists) is easywhat do you want? They vote who they are told to vote for by their mastersthe race baiters, socialists in hiding and so-called progressives whose numbers are comprised of God hating, Satan inspired seculars who make a living working on eliminating any semblance of decency in our societyand force all to accept anything. Some want to eliminate goodness because they are seeking justification for their particular perversions. How sweet, inclusive and multi-cultural that is unless youre a conservative Christian. You dont count.
Thats what the left isa bottomless swamp of bad ideas being forced on all of us. Its not live and let live. Its live and believe as we say, accept what we say to accept, shut up and pay us for our sorry existence, our misery, our immorality. Its screw you, America. And lets hide the flag and call it avoiding ones appearance of supporting jingoism.
Screw them. Its time to do the right thing. As soon as we can, we have to do the right thing. I hope and pray theres a chance.
I like the saying: "Never wrestle with a pig in the mud, you just get dirty and the pig enjoys it."
Truthfully, I'd have to respond myself. I go to other forums where the outright stupidity of liberalism almost hurts to read. You feel compelled to respond at the blatant, outright and downright "proud" stupidity.
The problem for the majority of them, is that they require a "spiritual awakening" in order to reassess their priorities. They won't do that until something happens that shakes them down to the very core of their humanity and shatters all of their fallacies.
You can't really do that with a clever post.
"Come on in! The mud's fine..."
If the electorate were mad at congress because they are not holding Bush accountable, then Bush’s ratings would be lower than congresses.

Takes away their "Bush manufactured" idiocy.
Every time I have had to listen to a Liberal spout off on any topic, I ask if his/her mother sued the delivery doctor for damaging them at birth with the misuse of those forceps.
A sidenote regarding intelligence gathering and input to the NIE —
Valerie Plame Wilson may be an accurate example of the level of skill of “intelligence gatherers” in the 1990s.
I am ashamed of what has been done in our name and I find it is past the time when the House should move on Impeachment Hearings against Bush and Cheney. .....
Time to Impeach Bush & Cheney.
I'm sorry, but I'd find another sports website that discusses sports, not politics. Someone has an agenda and dislikes all Republicans, not just the administration.
A saying to reply to this idiot goes something like this:
Never argue with a fool. People observing the argument may not know which one is the real fool.
That seems to be the consensus here. I guess I never really realized who and what I was arguing with. And you’re right, there is just no debating a liberal out of Chicago, they just don’t have a reasonable bone in their body. Thanks for the advice.
Very nice video, I got in bookmarked now. Thank you.
They have many forums and one of them is called “The Bleachers” were anything but sports is discussed. Unfortunately it’s probably the most heavily used and very anti-GOP and Bush. I should have realized coming out of Chicago it was going to be very liberal. Heck, I even got banned once because of my conservative religious views.
Don’t waste your time with this loon. I work with one so-called engineer who turns every discussion into either Bush-bashing or “eeeevilll corporation” bashing. How he keeps his job I don’t know. Oh yes, I do know! This is Minnesota, and he’s a moonbat liberal.
I'm also a Bears fan all the way!
I'd start with the areas where you agree...then address those where you disagree.
Noting the areas of agreement builds a bond, and it makes you appear reasonable, and also helps both of you analyze the issues rather than just breaking it all down to a "my side can beat up your side" sort of thing.
