Bush: Americans will realize need for aliens
The Washington Times ^ | July 20, 2007 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 07/20/2007 6:17:46 PM PDT by Baladas

President Bush yesterday said Americans will soon realize they need the immigrants and foreign temporary workers that would have been allowed by his immigration bill, which was defeated in the Senate last month.

Mr. Bush, in a town hall session in Nashville, Tenn., also refused to say whether he will pardon two U.S. Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a fleeing drug-smuggling suspect, saying the prosecutor was a friend of his who made his case to the jury that convicted the agents.

If Mr. Bush was hoping the immigration issue would disappear after his bill's failure, those hopes were dashed, as he was asked repeatedly about border security during the forum — meant to highlight his commitment to cutting the deficit.

"The bill failed and I can't make a prediction to you at this point, sir, where it's going to head," the president told one questioner. "I can make you a prediction, though, that pretty shortly people are going to be knocking on people's doors saying, man, we're running out of workers."

Mr. Bush said there are workers who will do jobs Americans aren't doing in the agriculture sector in particular, and without them the jobs will go unfilled.

"You're being illogical that those 4.5% would accept the menial jobs currently being done by illegals....over twenty million of them."

They would not just have to accept them, they would have to move to where the jobs are. People should really do a little research on the Okeys of the dust bowl era. They were a native labor force that displaced the Mexicans throughout the west. This has all played out before.

The most important step to solving the problem with illegals is to fill the jobs with legal immigrants or legal temporary workers, millions of them. Nobody wants to hear that, but as long as there are jobs left unfilled, illegals will come to fill them.

Yeah, because living on government aid instead of getting a job is so much better. We need these illegal aliens! Without them, I can blissfully stay on government aid rather than work a productive, motivating job because the aliens are doing work this American won’t do. </sarc>

"This same stupid picture is posted in every immigration thread. It’s getting boring."

Yeah: so is the allowance of millions of criminal invaders sucking the lifeblood out of taxpayers.........

The picture simply puts the attitude of the criminals towards Americans who believe that EXISTING LAWS should be enforced into perspective, and the coddling of the criminals by bleeding-hearts who support the criminal activity appears as foolish and un-American as it really is.

"That could be the most over-used photograph on FR."

I think the accommodations to the illegal criminal invaders by the Federal Government is the most over-used benefit we have in this country today, too, so the picture clearly shows what we've come to accomodate today.

What, you think there is no competition in the agriculture markets?? Raising his costs are not going to raise costs in Chile or Brazil so he goes out of business.

Dude, don't suggest to me for a minute that you are in favor of illegal immigration. If you are, we're done. If you are talking about a guest worker program, fine. Build the fence and push the program. Nobody is trying to kill off farming in this country, but if it takes illegal acts, then we have to draw the line.

Bush: Americans will realize need for...

A president who isn't bought and paid for by the criminal alien lobby and associates?

Save it George, you've lost all credibility concerning the latino tsunami inundating OUR country.

Well then, I stand corrected, let us continue to NOT enforce our employment laws or secure our borders. Silly me, WTF was I thinking.

Why?

Were you having a bad hair day when the picture was taken?

The picture has been removed but I am guessing that it is the one where there is one mexican shooting the finger and the other one is grabbing his crotch.

You want new pictures? I can drive around Houston for an hour and give you ten or twenty more of the same scum.

Your hatred of Illegal Immigrants/Mexicans trumps all.

Your love of Illegal Immigrants trumps all.

They don’t Want to see the problems with rounding them up and herding them back to Mexico. Once you peel away all their lame arguments, you will find the real reason.

The real reason has nothing to do with jobs since they will not provide an alternative to Mexicans working in the farms where they are well skilled. No it has to do with something more basic and emotional.

So, the reason that 47% of Arizona's Latino voters voted in favor of the anti-illegal immigration initiative Proposition 200 in 2004 was because they simply don't like Mexicans?

The most important step to solving the problem with illegals is to fill the jobs with legal immigrants

You'll never hear anyone say it, but the smartest thing a politician could say would be to advocate simultaneously expelling 12m illegals and importing 12m legal Indians, Chinese, Africans, E Euros, etc.

This would serve not only to satisfy our pending labor shortage & attract greater skilled workers, BUT also spread out the immigrant pool so that they would be forced to assimilate.

Importing masses of illiterate peasants from a corrupt cesspool only causes the host recipient to transform (for the worse), not the other way around.

"The Nile is a River that runs through FR. All the Border Guards pretend the crops will just plant and harvest themselves."

Not true. Hopefully, farm communities will adopt the program (as some are) of paying nonviolent prisoners to plant and harvest the crops. The program kills two birds with one stone -- the prisoners appreciate the money they're being paid -- some of them having never worked a full day in their lives -- and the farmers have CHEAP labor. Here's hoping it catches on across the nation.
