Bush: Americans will realize need for aliens

President Bush yesterday said Americans will soon realize they need the immigrants and foreign temporary workers that would have been allowed by his immigration bill, which was defeated in the Senate last month.
Mr. Bush, in a town hall session in Nashville, Tenn., also refused to say whether he will pardon two U.S. Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a fleeing drug-smuggling suspect, saying the prosecutor was a friend of his who made his case to the jury that convicted the agents.
If Mr. Bush was hoping the immigration issue would disappear after his bill's failure, those hopes were dashed, as he was asked repeatedly about border security during the forum meant to highlight his commitment to cutting the deficit.
"The bill failed and I can't make a prediction to you at this point, sir, where it's going to head," the president told one questioner. "I can make you a prediction, though, that pretty shortly people are going to be knocking on people's doors saying, man, we're running out of workers."
Mr. Bush said there are workers who will do jobs Americans aren't doing in the agriculture sector in particular, and without them the jobs will go unfilled.

Smart move by the local farmers in your area. The customers might even pay for the novelty of picking their own food (so money saved and doubly earned for the farmer, and the customer gets to pick fresh produce and the fruits/vegetables/nuts that are of high quality—seems to be a win-win situation).

I would love to have a chat with your “Advocates” about their assumption that working at Walmart or Target is a “dead end” job and that they are “unacceptable”.
What a bunch of Yahoo’s.
A person has to start somewhere and both companies promote from with in,so I fail to see how those jobs are “dead end” jobs.Besides someone got to man the registers or stock the shelves so the “advocates” can purchase their Food or other Merchandise or do these morons think some kind of retail fairy keeps the shelves stocked.
I guess anything to keep the welfare cases high goes, otherwise they might be out of a job.

Where you going to find these law abiding people to pick the crops??
I think you are looking at the problem all wrong.
Suppose that all illegal aliens were rounded up and exported, what would happen to all those tomato's in the field? They would rot and the price of tomato's would skyrocket. No one is going to buy overpriced tomato's, so the tomato farmer goes out of business or plants something profitable. This time the farmer studies the market and figures the cost of LEGAL workers into the cost of his produce. That is how the free enterprise system regulates itself.
The other thing that is overlooked is that individuals or small neighborhood can raise their own fruits and vegetables. It really isn't that hard. Ever hear of 'Victory Gardens?' That's how America got most of it's vegetables during WWII.
Personally, I love tomato's. I grow one cherry tomato plant on my deck that keeps my salads filled with tomato's all during the summer. If the price of lettuce skyrockets, I'll grow my own lettuce. America doesn't NEED mass produced produced harvested by ILLEGAL aliens.
Your desire to protect law breakers to protect the low cost of mass produced vegetables doesn't really seem in line with your other Christian views. IMO. Doing the right and legal thing is sometimes more costly, but it is always better then doing the wrong thing.
Sincerely

Fixed. Sometimes I type too fast and proof-read too slow.

Is it time to jump on the F-U Bush bandwagon that's being pulled by the Democrats?
My temper is nearing the boiling point on this issue.

Are you suggesting that all the rapes and murders being committed in this country are committed by illegal immigrants only? Source please. Dear FRriend,
It was never said anywhere that rapes and murders were ONLY committed by illegal aliens.
In fact, there is an incremental increase in the number of rapes and murders
sustained by Americans directly because of illegal aliens,
and that number has been estimated on the order of, at least, 40 deaths per day.
Your post appears to indicate that you think that there is no incremental increase
of either due to illegal aliens, and I suspect you know that isnt realistic.

If you figure (conservatively) 20,000 murders in the U.S. per year, then 40 per day roughly translates to 75% of the total. Granted, illegal immigrants commit murder at a rate proportionally higher than the legal population, but that number still appears to be way off.

There all not murders, deaths from DUI would be included as well as other deaths. if you add in deaths caused by the drug trade coming across the border it gets even nastier.

“When are we going to demand that the freebies to illegals stop?”
Most Americans have been demanding that the “freebies to illegals” stop for months. That’s not the point, though. The illegals have to be stopped. We need to make life in the US so painful and unattractive to them that they leave...on their own dime.
When the social benefits to illegals are cut off, and we make it a crime (with a federal prison sentence) for employers to hire illegals, they will head back to their homeland, and our nation’s chances for long-term survival will dramatically improve.
