Excerpt -
WASHINGTON - A brawl over presidential pardons punctured the normally courtly ambiance of the Senate on Thursday night, but Republicans and Democrats agreed to bury the hatchet and erase the evidence before the sun rose Friday. In the heat of a partisan spat, Democrats forced a vote on a nonbinding measure to instruct President Bush not to pardon former vice presidential aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. But there's no record of the 47-49 vote in the daily record of congressional proceedings or anywhere else.
That's because senators agreed less than an hour later to undo their vote and pretend it had never happened.

Wow if they are voting on pardons maybe they should take up the Marc Rich pardon or the associates of the Rodam boys and Rogewr Clinton that were pardon. The Senate might might to give instruction on those.

HEY, I've got an idea: Bush should issue an EO ordering the Legislative branch to make his tax cuts permanent, make a formal declaration of war against Al Qaeda, and begin reducing real spending by 2% a year in every Federal Department except Defense and Homeland Security.
See how that goes over.

Check me if I am wrong but was it not the legislative branch that gave the Executive branch the right to pardons and sentence commutations. From Article II, Section 2 of the US Constitution:
"The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices, and he shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.

NO!!!!! Legislation from the right is usually far less symbolic and often makes sense.
President Bush should issue an executive order instructing the Senate of the fact that they really suck.

Not that it matter to them, but I didnt think they had the power to change the congressional record.Sure, they just extended and revised the vote to zero.

So now the ‘Rats in the Senate are striking votes from the record?
Ladies and gentlemen we have now witnessed what happens when RATS get cornered, when their so-called “initiatives” don’t pass muster; they now get to strike them from the record like they never even happened. So much for the “most ethical Congress” theory, like there was ever a doubt from the start.
I see it was Dingy Harry who “directed” this...it’s time to kick the chair from under this RAT bastard and watch ‘em swing.

Every day the Senate is looking more and more like a Monty Python skit and less like a governing body.
Our nation is going to hell in a hand basket and, these twits
are arguing about how to demoralize the president!!!

It's too bad they couldn't undo themselves and pretend they never happened.

I’s just suggest to the senate that they stick their decision in the dumper where it belongs. I didn’t notice them telling Bubba who not to pardon. [I actually have a lot more to say, but it would require the use of inappropriate language.]

It comes from the King... in the monarchy, His Majesty could see fit to extend mercy at his pleasure and it has always been the King's call alone as to whom to forgive. The Founders adopted this ancient practice and vested it in the President.
