Something brewing in Israel
eye on the ground | July 18 2007 | American in Israel

Posted on 07/17/2007 10:56:59 PM PDT by American in Israel

Just a freeper observation, but there are strong indications that next week, during the time of the 9th of AV, that there will be a serious Arab attack on Israel.

The word on the street from the local Palestinians is to quote from a few "There will no longer be a Zionist problem in Palestine this month." Nobody is really talking, but I am getting veiled warnings from Palestinian friends. One such warning was a rather cryptic answer to a pointed question about war with Israel; "Do you know what the 9th of Av is? Every time Israel fights a war on the 9th of Av it looses"... People refuse to talk about war or answer any direct questions. This is very uncharacteristic for Palestinians; usually they are very verbally expressive. The following is what got me to finally write this note to you all. It is an excerpt from an email sent to me by a friend.

Today we had business to do in Jerusalem, so we left our home at 7 am and traveled down the east side of the Galilee, through Bet Shean and past the check point at Sede Trimot in the Jordan Valley.

Once we entered the Jordan Valley as we passed through the Arab agricultural areas we noticed the following which is most unusual;

1. There were no people visible working the in the fields. 2. There were no children along the side of the road.
3. There were no tractors or other farm vehicles anywhere to be seen.
4. All of the vegetables had been completely harvested and the fields were 100% empty.
5. No preparation of the fields was evident for the next planting...Plastic was everywhere from the prior crop.
6. The greenhouses had no plants in them..... 7. The vegetable stands that are normally filled to the brim from the harvest were completely vacant.
8. This is the peak season for growing vegetables in the Jordan Valley, yet everything had been harvested and nothing was growing waiting to be harvested or picked.

We concluded our business in Jerusalem and got back on the road again about 2:45 pm heading north up the Jordan Valley. Again, no people, no fruit stands, no crops, nothing!
Do these Arabs know something is about to happen that we do not know is coming? The 9th of Av is on July 23rd, which is the exact day both Temples in Jerusalem were destroyed hundreds of years apart...

This is just not how things are this time of year normally. The entire valley is the best land for growing crops in Israel and completly under the control of the Arabs. This land is the Palestinian food supply. For some reason they do not believe they need the food this year!

A friend of mine that is politicaly connected mentioned that he was thinking that the first attack date for the Arab League may be the 9th of AV, and the Sept/Oct period as the backup date. He does not believe that Syria will be ready by next week, so he thinks they will use the fall back date. However Hamas/Fatah have their people totally prepared for the first date. They may jump, even if Syria gives the no signal.

As a Biblical side reference, Isaiah 14 28-33, and Zephaniah 2 refer I believe to the destruction of the modern day Palestinians. Interestingly enough it says: " I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.." Zehpaniah 2 indicates that the industrial city of Ashkelon, (third largest city in Israel I believe), will be wiped out, but that a smoke cloud from its direction will go over Gaza, and I think kill most of the inhabitants there. Ashkelon is due north of Gaza and just a kassams throw away.

This is just a few various observations I am bringing together, but they ominously point to the same thing, a major Palestinian ground offensive may take place just next week.

Many years ago I spent a summer in Israel. I remember that when it came to security concerns my Israeli friends said, “You don’t worry until WE worry.” The fact that you and your Israeli friends are worried, worries me. I love Israel and will keep it, and you, in my prayers.

Interesting to be sure, but I have to think the Arabs realize they can’t force a decision militarily. They have a much greater chance of getting what they want through political and PR means.

I think Syria still hasn’t got most of it’s new equipment from Russia, and what they’re getting is mostly defensive anyways. That mentions nothing of the training they’d need. They haven’t conducted any big exercises recently, have they? Furthermore, didn’t Olmert express willingness to negotiate for the Golan Heights recently? The Syrians are pretty vulnerable right now and I don’t expect them to do anything.

Jordan probably has the best Arab military, but, apart from their treaty with Israel, they’ve shown diminishing effectiveness in their fights with Israel (they were best in ‘48 and got increasingly worse). I can’t see them trying anything.

Egypt has the best large Arab military, but they aren’t going to do anything and endanger ties with the U.S.

The only nation I can see at all attacking Israel is Syria, and they obviously are in no shape to do so.

Hamas and Fatah might try something, but they have no ability whatsoever to project what little power they have. Hezbollah isn’t going to go on some offensive either.

Sounds like the Palis’ wish of no Israelis is just more wishful thinking on their part, like their ridiculous “right of return” idea. Although it is interesting that they do seem to be anticipating something.

Studying Revelation right now in Bible study. I can see the writing on the wall. There IS something brewing. Especially with the Russian/Iran/Syria connection. Prayers for all in Isreal. Find true peace and safety in Christ.

There is no temple there at present, just and abomination.

You might want to get in touch with Yoni the Blogger. He's retired from IDF specops and, from a layman's standpoint, seems well connected where Israeli security is concerned. He also goes on Hugh Hewitt's show often when things heat up in the region.

I pray every day for the peace of Jerusalem...

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning, If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I do not prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy... Psalm 137:5,6

Yesterday President Bush said things about Israel that deeply concerned me...

I pray America will never cease to be a friend to Israel...

a major Palestinian ground offensive

How do you carry out a ground offensive (let alone a successful one) with no tanks and no air force?

Although I appreciate your observations on the issue, I can’t help but be somewhat of a skeptic on the matter.

The 9th of Av is like a week away and I seriously doubt the Syrians (or the Iranians for that matter) have their forces ready to attack Israel on such a short notice. There is also no indication of massive Syrian troop deployment on the Israeli-Syrian border (at least as far I know). Israel’s satellites would have easily picked something like this up.

Regarding that cryptic warning from the “palestinians” about how Israel loses every war it fights in the 9th of Av, I cannot help but laugh on the matter. Yes, the 1st and the 2nd Jewish temples fell on the 9th of Av, but one can hardly call those “engagements” between the Jews and the Babylonians (first temple) and the Jews and the Romans (second temple) wars. Nebuchadnezzar invaded Jerusalem and destroyed the first temple in 586 BCE. There was no war of any kind, the Jews did not rebel against the Babylonians in any way. The second temple’s destruction which was destroyed by the Romans, albeit for different reasons was instigated by a revolt (several revolts, actually), but no war. Technically, Israel has never lost any war in the 9th of Av because they never fought a war on the 9th of Av (unless you see a revolt as a form of war). Although the entire issue of the 9th of Av is irrelevant had G_d not chosen that particular day to punish the Jews for their hate towards each other. The Babylonians and the Romans were nothing more than pawns in G_d’s original plan to punish the Jews by destroying both their temples and sending them to a 2,000 year diaspora.

Hey, if the Arabs wanna rely on something that happened over 2,000 years ago, I say let ‘em. They’ll be in for a rude awakening.

Lastly, even if the Iranians and the Syrians were planning something this soon, the stupid “palestinians” will be the last to know anything about it.

You also referred to a “major palestinian ground offensive”. What is that? The “palestinians” have no army, no tanks, no artillery, no trained conscripts. They lack any and all neccessary measures to launch any ground offensive, let alone a major one.

Although I understand your concern, I don’t believe a war will erupt in the next few weeks, although the Sep/Oct date you mentioned does sound somewhat plausible. Something serious is surely brewing down there, but I simply don’t think it will go down in the next few weeks.

Generally, I wouldn’t worry myself about Israel because I know they can handle themselves fairly well and they have G_d on their side. But with that sniveling snake Olmert at the helm, a lot of things can go wrong pretty fast down there.

G_d bless Israel and America.

My only observation is that israel had a 200 nuclear warhead arsenal in 1998 and is believed to have been adding 25 to 35 more every year since. If it takes using them, Olmert will be dead and they will be used.

From the King James:

Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
