With the doubling of the reward for the capture of Osama Bin Laden, the Times wishes to reiterate our commitment to the security and secrecy of operations of the United States Armed Forces. We will therefore, through anonymous sources, publish only those areas to be searched, which special forces units will be involved in the search, the names/aliases of the key coalition informants in the area, the location of their immediate family members, the specific villages to be searched, specific tribal warlords to be questioned and the ammunition to be used by the 31 aircraft to be used in the hunt.
However, we also feel that giving away the actual location of Bin Laden and Zawahiri, which we have learned through our local contacts and Al-Jazeera, would violate the trust we have built up with our informants in the area. That information cannot, and will not, be divulged.
Who says we cant keep a secret?
Developing...
I must say that I’m amazed. $50 million is just an extremely high sum, and I would have bet that by now someone would have turned him in. Greed is so motivating. I’m shocked. I guess I just don’t know humans.
Heh heh, Defense Secretary Gates should appear on TV with all of that money stacked around him ala the film “Ransom”.
L
Twenty five million should have been plenty. Good grief.
It’s satire, folks.
A-ha! I wondered why there was no link. :)
$52 million if you include the reward from the pilot’s association.
I spent a lot of time in the ME.
You have to look at this through their eyes and not “western” eyes.
The people protecting Bin Laden live in huts or caves and they are religous zealots.
They are happy with the increased food, water, and entertainment that Bin Laden brings into their lives. They also place far more value on their belief that he is a gift from Allah and that protecting him will get them all the virgins and salvation they could ever want.
If you eat slop and live on 5 cents a day and that is the only world you know than $50 million is incomprehensible.
Money will probably never do it. What we need to do is start blowing up a lot of locations in Pakistan where he likely is.
Why not simply put a bounty of $250,000 on each of his sons for being delivered dead, and $100,000 for them being turned over alive?
agreed. no amount of money will shake him loose I’m afraid, and we ARE trying to get people of far different values, to adopt “our” values in this search. someone, somewhere is going to have to finally figure out what it is they’d want in return for giving him up..
If $25 million wouldn’t do it in the poorest areas of the globe, I doubt $50 mil is going to get him either.
“If $25 million wouldnt do it in the poorest areas of the globe, I doubt $50 mil is going to get him either.”
I agree...If he is alive, a few virgins and a fist full of
shekels should be enough to have someone cough him up.
Nope, check Byron Borgan's web site.
"SENATE OVERWHELMINGLY APPROVES DORGAN-CONRAD AMENDMENT TO STRENGTHEN EFFORT TO CAPTURE OR KILL OSAMA BIN LADEN "
“However, we also feel that giving away the actual location of Bin Laden and Zawahiri, which we have learned through our local contacts and Al-Jazeera...”
Sounds like it should be an easy job for them to find him since they know the “actual location.”
Yep, but somebody knows were his worm ridden body is located and 50 mil is a lot of loot. I am surprised AQ hasnt given up the location, they need the loot. But then I really shouldnt give them any ideas.
The people who know where he is are Radical Muslims.
QED.
