DETROIT, July 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Top campaign officials for Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich tonight expressed outrage that rival candidates Hillary Clinton and John Edwards were overheard collaborating on a strategy to eliminate other Democratic candidates from future debates and forums.
According to the Associated Press, Fox News Channel microphones picked up Clinton and Edwards on stage discussing their desire to limit future joint appearances to exclude some rivals lower in the crowded field. "We should try to have a more serious and a smaller group," Edwards said into Clinton's ear following a Presidential Forum in Detroit hosted by the NAACP on Thursday.
Clinton agreed with Edwards, according to print reports and video footage of the exchange. "We've got to cut the number. ... They're not serious," she said. Clinton added that she thought representatives of her campaign and Edwards' had already tried to limit the debates, and "we've gotta get back to it," according to the AP.
"Candidates, no matter how important or influential they perceive themselves to be, do not have and should not have the power to determine who is allowed to speak to the American public and who is not," said Kucinich.
"Imperial candidates are as repugnant to the American people and to our Democracy as an imperial President."
The Kucinich campaign will immediately take steps to address the planned actions of the Clinton and Edwards campaigns.

Once again so completely clueless. It's not being childish to keep your mouth shut and not help your enemy. Just the opposite. Little children say anything because they are just that, young and foolish.
Can’t wait for her answer when Kucinich brings it up in the next debate!
Ouch, that one hurt!
Obviously Hillary wants a pretty pony for Veep. And as was said once by the Bob Dole character on SNL (was that Dan Aykroyd??), only the spineless actually want the job. I believe the Veep’s day planner is a bit more roomy than the President’s; this will give him time to schedule a few hair appointments throughout the day.
Man, those pictures are hilarious! Two insidious connivers caught on tape. Do we want either of these clowns in the White House?
Dennis needs to sic his tall, leggy wife on Bill. That will put Hillary in her place.
If telling the truth helps the democrats, then we’ve got serious problems on our own side.
They had their wedding reception in something called the “Farm Sanctuary”? That’s appropriate for Kucinich, who belongs in some kind of a home.
Kucinich can express all the outrage he wants... there is neither a right nor obligation for any particular group to invite all comers. If the Clinton / Obama / Edwards campaigns wish to establish events where only they are allowed to participate, that’s their prerogative — Kucinich can bitch about that situation, too; that’s his prerogative.
Come on Dennis! This is all part of the Democrats new “Fairness Doctrine.” It’s not fair to Her Thighness and the Breck Girl that your taking valuable time from their spotlight.
You better put some ice on that.
So, Dennis, does this apply to legislators also? Are you telling me here that you OPPOSE the reintroduction of the Fairness Doctrine???
Hmmmmm??????
Duke became a Republican the same year as Rick Perry. He has been a Republican almost as long as Giuliani. Certainly a lot longer than Bloomberg, who has formally left the party.
Cheney is considered anything but spineless and wanted the job supposedly to call the shots from behind the curtain. Cheney is a smart politician: he knew back in 2000 that he would be too unpopular to run for president in 2008.
Pssst. Maybe we should have a smaller and more serious group of posters.
Sounds like the DNC needs some kind of fairness doctrine.
Fort Marcy Park Bump!
“Disagree..Look we have a long primary season...in both parties...and we open it up to everyone..but after some months, if a candidate cant show any oomph in the polls, they shouldnt keep getting the same attention, recognition, and airtime in these public forums..”
I saw the clip and found myself agreeing with Edwards. Candidates like Kucinich ARE jokes and cheapen the whole electoral process. Like a nerdy little brother who cries to Mom that big brother won’t let him play with the big kids.
Major candidates are major candidates primarily because they were given far more face time by the media even before they became candidates. The media has effectively replaced the smoked-filled rooms as the nominating procedure with the voters merely validating the media’s selection.
