“ho (gasp!) took a few dollars for basically being the Oklahoma quarterback, and lineman J.D. Quinn who (oh heavens!) also got some coin for a no-show gig at a car dealership.”
Deems da rules.
What will be interesting is how this compares to USC and the Reggie Bush problems and how they will rule on that.
I’m no OK fan (Go Gators!) but they won what they won and that’s that.........
I just gotta a call from a guy named Nicky T’reefingers in Vegas about a bookkeeping errora and collecting an old debt . . .
“Rhett Bomar, who (gasp!) took a few dollars”
Working about 5 hours a week for two semesters = $15,000
Do the math. Seems that’s what got him busted (IRS)
Will the teams that beat Oklahoma in 2005 lose their wins now? All statistics for all players for every team they played will now have to be disregarded.
What a whiny little runt. The rules are supposed to apply to everyone. Hopefully they will catch up to Reggie Bush eventually and USC’s national championship will be taken away. But until then, this author of this trip needs to suck back the tears and get over his OU’s winless season.
“The NCAA has you brainwashed in thinking that what these guys did was morally wrong in some way,’
You mean when the Mafia has guys getting paid union wages by contractors but the guys never show up to the job, it’s okay?
I wonder how long this reporter would keep his job if he never showed up and never sent in anything to print? And would it be immoral to fire him?
They can, and they did.
Any OU fan that wants to cry won’t have a shoulder here. After what the NCAA did to UM in the mid 90’s, I have no sympathy for any program.
The only thing that does bother me is that USC, even after all the Reggie Bush stuff, among other things tied to their “boosters” and others involved with the program, is still skating free in the world of college football. If OU fans want to complain about that, I’ll listen, and most likely agree.
At the end of the day, it’s all about what’s politically correct. And it’s not politically correct to tarnish such stellar programs as USC and Ohio State, but as long as it’s Miami, Bama, or OU, it’s fine. I’d love to see consistency in the NCAA, but sadly, I doubt that will ever happen.
At a large Defense Contractor back in the early 80’s my boss was a big OU fan. He hired 2 engineers out of UT. One night in the Columbine Lounge, they were on his case about how over 50% of the OU team was from the state of Texas. He just drained his Bud, sat back and said, “Shame those boys had to go out of state to get a good education.” Those engineers never said a word the rest of the night.
I can’t stand OK, but Myles Brand (Pres. NCAA) is the biggest moron in a position of authority since Jocelyn Elders.
