Fresh off a trip to Iraq, a visibly tired McCain lit into the "liberal left" for advocating retreat in Iraq and then went behind closed doors to brawl with a fellow GOP senator over the war.
In what one senator called "the most serious fight that I have seen in my time in the Senate," McCain clashed with Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio) over the Arizona senator's assertion that the most dangerous threat facing U.S. troops in Iraq was Al Qaeda members.
Voinovich, who recently urged President Bush to change his war policy now, shot back that Al Qaeda "wouldn't be in Iraq" if American forces weren't there, according to people who witnessed the exchange.

"I've seen this movie before from the liberal left in America, who share no responsibility for what happened in Cambodia when we said no while that mission was still in its early stages," McCain said of the secret U.S. invasion of Cambodia in 1970. Congress later blocked President Richard Nixon from further conducting military actions against Cambodia.

Amen Toby, 100% correct.
They are already here. They are part of the 20,000,000 who crossed our southern “border.”
MAJOR bump
Where in the hell has Voinovich been? All kind of docs proving al queda was in Iraq with Saddamn long before Bush went it...
Agreed. I could understand why the French army collapsed in WWI. I cannot understand why the Republican Party is collapsing other than cowardice of those who are far from the front and afraid to take on the Democrats. These Republicans dishonor those who are in forward areas. If we quit, there will be no peace in Iraq. But there will be a great victory for al Qaeda and Iran. Al Qaeda will be inspired and motivated to fight us on other battlefields. And the Republicans who make that happen will not be able to escape from the consequences of their expediency.
>>>Lately, Ive been reading and hearing Republicans say that we should cut-n-run from Iraq to win the upcoming elections.
They aren’t real republicans. They are Log Cabin Republicans. The Log Cabins are affiliated with anti war protestors.

I am really sad about what is going on at FR and this incredible tide of defeatism that is sweeping this forum. Many times I think that I am at DU or Daily KOS when I read on FR the defeatist and Hate Bush posts.
You are not alone.
Exactly...looks like the lefties have infiltrated FR...and created what we're seeing today....a number of really great FReepers' accounts were suspended...when the timeout was over...they've elected not to come back. Oh My what a mess...those FReepers were the GREAT DEFENDERS OF EVERYTHING BUSH....
I have great faith in our brave troops, President Bush, an enough number of Congress people, and a minority of Patriots to keep fighting this war until we win. I would rather die than I see the unimaginable horrible consequences on the United States and the world if we leave Iraq before we defeat the terrorists there.
McCAIN FOR SECDEF IN 2008!
LET’S KICK SOME ASS!
This is one case where i’d like McCain to get physical with the guy. Good job John.
They aren’t just members though. Some have mod control. That is the disturbing part.
THAT is over the top. I’m all for giving credit when due.
Shouldn't post that, Voinovich doesn't know who Hilter was, but he and mcvain have cornered the adult depends market.
