Portland Airport Art

Posted on 07/10/2007 2:44:12 PM PDT by dirtman

I was listening to the Lars Larson show today and he was taking calls regarding a controversial artwork that is hanging at the Portland Oregon International Airport.

The question is if such art should be hanging in a public place such as an airport...

Absolutely. Let Portland (well, at least the people who have the authority to decide what art goes on the airport walls) announce to the world how stupid they are

If Jesus dipped in a jar of urine can be 'art', what's with this ?

That is not art. For art see the Denver Airport.

When such is hung in an American airport the time for analysis and debate is over and the time for corrective action has begun, imo.

You are right. There is such a thing as rights...and there is such a thing as “in your face.” I categorize this act as “In your face.”

This looks like something an artistically ungifted self-proclaimed political activist at about the sophomore level (in other words, about 19 years of age) would produce. Who is off his / her anti-depressive meds. On a rainy day.

As art, a number of apolitical reactions seem apropos. Dull. Derivative. Dismal. Laughable. Pathetic.

I take it that the Portland airport’s governing authority is either hanging (a) stuff it can get for free, or (b) has way too much money in its discretionary accounts.

That is downright funny, but you forgot to change the crosses to crescents.

BTW, my wife is picking a friend up today at the Portland Airport and I am going to ask her to see if the so called “art” is still hanging. That is if they let her in the airport - she wont be wearing a burqa which is probably required for all women to enter at the Portland International Airport.

Demented moonbat art is so predictable and just so childish.

thanks guys for taking this up; I am the one that sent Lars the original pictures. I am so tired of the hypocrisy of Portland and its anti-Americanism.

I appreciate your words; at least I’m not alone,

Jake

This is objectionable.

Another airport that I think had anti-Christian art — just sickening — is the Denver airpot. I couldn’t move fast enough to get out of there. Terrible aura.

For everyone’s info. Most of the design and art of the Portland airport is done well in my opinion.
