Young Republicans to spend quality time with Duncan Hunter
Hollywood, Florida, July 5, 2007 - Young Republicans (YRs) from around the nation will be welcoming 2008 Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter to South Florida this weekend (July 5-8). Hunter will be the featured speaker at the National Conventions luncheon in the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Diplomat Resort Friday (July 6).
The Southern Californian Congressman and Vietnam veteran was chairman and is currently the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee overseeing a $532B defense budget. Border security has long been one of his top priorities. Congressman Hunter was instrumental in the passage of the Secure Fence Act, extending the San Diego border fence 854-miles across California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
Hunter said he was pleased and privileged to have the opportunity to spend time with the young people who are, the future of the Republican party. Hunter said he was anxious to hear the views of the young Republicans concerning the vital issues facing this country. I have two young sons myself and both are instrumental in helping me in my quest for the Presidency.
Hunters youngest son, Sam, just graduated from college. He is married with a small child. Hunters oldest son, Capt. Duncan D. Hunter USMC, is serving his third tour in the Middle East. He too is married and has three young children. I mention my sons and their spouses because I am very proud of them. They are the same age as many of the attendees of the YRNC. I can relate to these young Republicans, added Hunter.
The events will be held at the Westin Diplomat Resort, 3555 South Ocean Drive, Hollywood, Florida. Mary Matalin, noted television personality, will also be attending and speaking at another time. She has been active in politics since college, starting at the grassroots level in local and statewide campaigns in her native state of Illinois. The Reagan Revolution brought her to Washington, DC where she served the Republican National Committee. The YR luncheon with Matalin will be Saturday (July 7).
The mission of the Young Republicans is to educate professionals in the 18-40 age range on current issues, campaigning, and leadership. A large crowd is expected to attend.

Fred was a last minute add.
But to hear how the Atlantic Online tell it, they made it out like Mitt crowded out Fred.
Sounds like someone got their Mitt in a twist!
Don’t worry, Mitt will be gone from the scene after the first few Primaries and you can move on with your life.
Wishful thinking and your words are hollow!
Mitt won the staw poll and leads in the other states SP and Mitt is laying down a firm foundation!

“Looks like Fred Jump the Shark......”
Looks like some very YOUNG Republican should go back and find out what “jumping the shark” means before he/she uses the phrase.
Whatever Fred did, he did not “jump” any shark.
That’s what I was thinking. The expression is starting to be distorted by kids who do not remember ‘Happy Days’.
Not remembering the vapid and historically amnesiac “Happy Days” would be a GOOD thing for society.... but we DO have to stop using the “jump the shark” reference that keeps that crap show in memory!
Mitt Flip-ney will not get past the first few Primaries. That is my prediction. He may win a few early ones because of the giant wad of cash he’s spending, but he won’t get much further. He can’t fool ALL of the people with his plastic veneer that hides the empty shell!
I apologized if I missed used the phrase I never watched Happy Days sorry not a pop culture person.
I heard it used with Earth Day in how it was used was that this big smoke screen came along and push off the stage some thing was very important that people should know and it never got reported accept by Rush.
My using was in reference of a few days ago a thread accused Mitt of packing the YR when Fred was not even schedule to be there.
Fine enjoy your imaginings..
This is a generic comment — do some of you not understand straw polls and why they are worthless except to make money for an organization? I have run straw polls and they are fundraising tools. The more ballots a candidate buys, the more money you make and if a candidate LOVES to win straw polls then your fundraiser is going to be very profitable.
They are no different than an on-line poll except you make money off of them. It is who can turn out their people to an event and then a lot of campaigns buy the ballots and the organization walks away with big bucks.
There is nothing scientific about straw polls. Zero, zip, nada so this fight over straw polls is actually pretty funny to those of us who have run them.
Tell that to the Fredheads they are the ones who made a big deal out of this while they to malign Mitt.
I only cleared up the fact that Fred was NOT even schedule
The rest of it I could careless!
Ping!

:)
Why hasn’t Fred made it official yet? I want to see him get the media scrutiny Mitt got, and I want to see him do something other than deliver rehearsed lines to friendly audiences. I want to see him show us if he is more than an empty suit that everyone projects they ideal candidate image onto.
