The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will hear arguments Monday whether there is merit to a lawsuit by the family of Rachel Corrie, the 23-year-old activist from Olympia killed by a bulldozer in the Gaza Strip in 2003.
The defendant in the case is Caterpillar, which made the D9 bulldozer involved in her death.
The case, Corrie et al. v. Caterpillar, was filed in Seattle in 2005, but a district court dismissed it. After this hearing, the appeals court will rule whether the suit should be dismissed or sent back to the lower court.
Cindy and Craig Corrie, the woman's parents, allege Caterpillar violated human rights and committed war crimes by knowingly selling its equipment to the Israeli army, which used the bulldozers to raze Palestinian homes and endanger people. Rachel Corrie was run over by a bulldozer driven by an Israeli soldier as she tried to block a home from demolition.

The treads did not run her over, merely the front blade.
Here is a good video that replays the scene.
I have seen the actual footage which is why I am so sure of how she died.
I am trying to find it again.
“...order the plantiff to pay the court costs of the defense in frivolous lawsuits...”
This should always be the case - plantiff should have to post bond, to be held in escrow, to pay for defense when plantiff looses.
college kids are often like that, overimpressed with their own importance & intelligence. They are insulated by academia and haven’t been beaten up by the real world yet. Ms. corre got weeded out, and good riddance.
Pinging you to the thread, just because it involves heavy equipment operation. Also, the replied-to post is excellent.
I think that some relatives of terror victims in Israel ought to sue Mr. and Mrs. Corrie for producing a thing that aided others is killing and maiming their loved ones.
From those photos, I think its more likely she arrived at the hospital with a concussion and was killed by palistinain doctors.
Thanks for the ping, and I really recommend everyone read that excellent response here:
As they say, "Read the whole thing," it's all salient, but standing out:
In that letter, you begin by recalling that your daughter was killed by an Israeli bulldozer, but you neglect to mention the circumstances under which she was so killed...
It is worth reminding people that the area ahead of a dozer is masked by the huge blade- it's a blind spot the operator cannot see.
A prudent person would avoid getting anywhere near such a spot in the first place.
Who is bankrolling the Corrie’s legal fees? Getting a case up to a Circuit Court isn’t exactly free.
Screw them. Maybe ESU can name a physical plant metal prefab dozer shed after her.
Yeah or maybe the Palestinians can name a street after her, she’s already part of the pavement LOL
Machine 1, Rage 0.
I couldn’t get a boxscore.
I guess she figured the driver would stop for her, and she’d get into the newspapers like that Chinese nerd with the shopping bags who stood in front of a tank. Fortunately, the Israeli soldier had more discipline.
It’s all for the better. Once *itch in a ditch is enough.
Her idiot parents are the root cause of her death. She inherited their stupidity and was indoctrinated by their leftism. They have to find somebody else to blame.
LOL
I've speculated on the same thing. Palestinians have no qualms about trading human shields for headlines, and Ms. Corrie was certainly more useful to them in death than she ever was in life.
I remember growing up in Durham, we would go every October to civic center to eat pancakes for Kiwanis club. Even as a kid, I could put away stacks and stacks of pancakes.
