Global Warming: it's not caused by greenhouse gases says academic

Last Update: Friday, July 6, 2007. 3:57pm AEST

By Julia Harris

An Australian academic has spoken out against the popular view that global warming is caused by greenhouse gas emissions. He believes that global warming and climate change are caused by cycles in the sun's electro-magnetic radiation. He says scientists are taking a narrow view and politicians are making policy with the wrong information.

Emeritus Professor Lance Endersbee AO is a former Dean of Engineering and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Monash University. He told Tom Harwood, ABC Western Queensland's Morning Program producer that the world has been warming naturally due to increased magnetic radiation from the sun.

One thousand years ago the Vikings were in Greenland, and they settled there and it was a warm period, known as the medieval warm period and Europe was prosperous," he said. "And then from about 1300 on it got progressively colder and in the time of the 1600s it was terribly cold in Europe. Finland lost about one-third of their population and the Thames froze over regularly every year and people were able to travel from London up the river on sleighs - so it was a different climate," explained Professor Endersbee.

May be, but you can`t hold concerts for it. You can`t destroy world economies as easily, so therefore it must be carbon emissions or nothing.

“It is a bit naive to think that at least part of global warming is not caused by greenhouse gases.”

“Global warming” is a NATURAL event!! The Earth has been warming OR cooling since it began. The Earths climate, now get this, HAS NEVER BEEN STATIC!!! ANY object is either warming or cooling. There is nothing mere homo-sapiens can do about it.

He said a lot of the business of carbon trading and global warming is just a popular delusion. He refers to a book written by Mackay in the 1840s called "Extraordinary popular delusions and the madness of crowds". "We've got it now... he could see it 150 years ago - the crowd is mad!"

“He believes that global warming and climate change are caused by cycles in the sun’s electro-magnetic radiation. “

Gettin’ warmer....(no pun intended). That is 1/2 of the equation.

Maybe the truth will come out in another 18 months or so....

“What’s the name of his company selling carbon credits?”

Here is a good link to an article May of 2006 in Al’s own words.

“Global warming” is a NATURAL event!!

It occurs naturally, but that still does not rule out it being impacted by increased levels of greenhouse gases (which are part man-made and part naturally produced). Climate change just does not happen, there are things like sun, volcanoes, meteors, changes in the earth's axises, etc, that causes change.

“Climate change just does not happen, there are things like sun, volcanoes, meteors, changes in the earth’s axises, etc, that causes change.”

??? It DOES “just happen”. Due to all the NATURAL processes YOU just named. All NATURAL. None we can control or influence.
Thank you for making MY point.

I would not completely discount the possibility that increased CO2 levels could alter the climate,

Or maybe a changing climate is altering CO2 levels.

The causes can be natural and unnatural. For instance, you can’t argue that Nuclear bombs would not alter the climate, at least for a few decades. Science just does not have a grip on how much is caused by what, regardless of their claims.

In the 70”s, the liberal mantra was global cooling. Now it is global warming. I wonder if it will eveb global stasis?

yeah, that seems to have happened before

"Sure Dr. Endersbee can do science, but can he play a guitar?"

Probably. You'd be surprised at how many top scientists were/are accomplished musicians.

I’ve done vigorous and intense investigation of the cause of global warming and it isn’t caused by humans. I will be releasing my findings in this post for the first time. I expect a Nobel for my efforts. After all, I’ve determined what tens of thousands of scientists and politicians could not.

The root cause of global warming is:

THE SUN

According to my research, it is 27 million degrees at it’s core and the heat from its outer shell reaches the Earth in about 8.2 light minutes. Further, the Sun will eventually destroy the Earth completely if left unchecked.

I demand an immediate project to erect large polarized panels that will block the rays and heat of the Sun.

A large number of the students in the Music Dept are also in the Natural Sciences Dept or in the Math Dept or both. It’s a common occurrence, although guitar isn’t such a common choice for primary instrument.

Please! Ever hear of Krakatoa? The island exploded with the force of 100 megatons (the Hiroshima bomb was about 20 kilotons). A kiloton is one-thousandth of a megaton. You do the math and extrapolate the effect. We are talking about global effect. You need to look at this with some perspective.

Women and minorities most effected.
