WASHINGTON -- Recent remarks from WTOP commentator Cal Thomas have sparked controversy in the Muslim-American community. Now, an Islamic advocacy group is responding to Thomas' commentary.
In his weekly commentary on WTOP Radio Monday, Cal Thomas discussed the recent thwarted terror attacks in the United Kingdom.
"How much longer should we allow people from certain lands, with certain beliefs to come to Britain and America and build their mosques, teach hate, and plot to kill us?" Thomas asked. "Okay, lets have the required disclaimer: Not all Muslims from the Middle East and southeast Asia want to kill us, but those who do blend in with those who don't. Would anyone tolerate a slow-spreading cancer because it wasn't fast-spreading? Probably not. You'd want it removed."
Thomas' commentary prompted the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to urge its supporters to contact WTOP and voice their concerns. WTOP received many calls and emails from both sides.
On Wednesday, WTOP invited Ibrahim Hooper, a CAIR spokesperson and Cal Thomas, to separately respond to Thomas' previous comments.
"For him, I would imagine that his next step is the expulsion of the Muslim-American community," Hooper said. "We condemn extremism. We've condemned terrorism....We've issued dozens of condemnations on dozens of terrorism attacks."
"But guys like [Cal] Thomas come along and want to say every Muslim should be suspect and should be treated in a certain way. That's not just and that's not the American way," Hooper said.
When negative incidents occur, such as the Danish cartoon controversy and the desecration of Korans at Guantanamo Bay, Hooper said CAIR focuses on educational campaigns and "things that really explain who Islam is all about so that they don't have to take their misinformation from Islamaphobes like Cal Thomas."

Guys like Hooper and organisations like CAIR are using the “American way” to destroy the American way.

CAIR is full of camel sh#t.
First, what value has islam brought to the world in the last hundreds of years? In other words, what contributions has islam given us that elevate humans and advance humanity?
Second, what has islam cost the world in terms of human lives lost, capital resources spent and intellectual energies used up fighting islam's inherently violent nature and its innate desire to conquer and control the world?
Answering these two questions should help intellectually honest and rational humans, regardless of their faith, assess the costs vs benefits of islam. Because, sooner or later, our world will have to decide whether or not it would be better off if there is no islam or there is only islam.
Given islam's nature in its current and historical form, as long as there is islam, there will always be violence, mayhem and death. Even if the world was totally governed by sharia law, this would not change. Muslims kill anyone and everyone, but mostly other muslims. Islam is a warrior cult where allah sanctions killing.
Unless islam reforms itself and conforms to the 21st century and beyond, the world, perhaps country by country, must answer the "islam or no islam?" question. It isn't going away and unfortunately it isn't reforming itself. A look at history will confirm that islam is growing larger and more violent while seeking more destructive weapons to use against us. Thank you, Jimmy Carter for this latest chapter.

There is in this nation a notion of a separation of Church and State. Why is it then that we tolerate the foreign theocratic Islamic Supremacist government of Saudi Arabia funding the construction of mosques in America?
There is no freedom of religion in Saudi Arabia. Jews cannot enter the country. Other non-muslims (kufir) are prohibted from practicing their religions or reading their religious texts there. Non-muslims are prohibited from entering the cities of Mecca and Medina under penalty of death. Non-muslims are second class citizens under the Saudi/Islamic law and have fewer rights and protections.
No Saudi funded mosque should be afforded tax exempt status.
Additionally we are right to be suspicious of the expansion of an intolerant faith by an intolerant nation.
Would we have been accepting of Nazi Germany funded Hitler Youth camps in America? How about South Afrikan Congress funded white supremacist organizations?
Cultural exchange has to be a two way street.
