National Archives ^ | 2007 | Presidential historian Michael Beschloss

Posted on 07/04/2007 10:12:38 AM PDT by Ernest_at_the_Beach

Presidential historian Michael Beschloss moderates this discussion with members of Congress on the impact of high-speed communications, instantaneous news, and public expectations of quick results on basic constitutional principles such as "separation of powers" and "federalism."

House Majority Whip Roy Blunt and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer participate in the program. The discussion addresses if and how the Founding Fathers’ blueprint for deliberative democracy should be adapted to a world reshaped by communications technology.

Simple. Shut it down, like Hillary and DiFi want. It is becoming an impediment to the exceptionally bright and well educated people who want to run our lives for us. Ordinary people can only screw things up with this kind of power.

The founding fathers could not have anticipated the world we live in today, so let's just ignore the parts of the Constitution that don't adapt well to the vision of Hillary Clinton and John Edwards, two other things the Founders could not have anticipated. Or imagined.

By the way, the same can be said for private ownership of guns.

None of the electrons have anything to do with deliberation and serious open discussion of US issues in the congress or senate (except that they like the behind closed doors, secret amendment process and earmarks) which is made difficult when the People can turn to radio and blogs for the information.

With the technology available today, why don’t they all just stay in their home districts and states and telecommute with all debates and hearings open to the public? Than they can keep in touch with the People that matter - their constituents. They will be able to do as they do when running - visit local communities, go to the local diners without having to shack up in dingy apartments. Then more qualified candidates can run without having to figure the cost of family separations.

Meet at the start and close of the session and for classified briefings and sessions.

Clean up Washington DC while they are at it.

Talk Radio: the last refuge of Conservatives, having been ousted from the MSM.

Oh I don't think so. Our founding fathers had a better understanding of egomaniacal powermad tyrants (like Hillary) and of prescious prancing perfumed ponces like Edwards than we do. That is why the Constitution was written to make it so that it was hard to do the things they want to do.
