Thank you for the reminder. It’s always good to be reminded what the day is about.
Re-read that description of the despotic King George. Doesn’t it sound in many ways like today’s liberals?

Outstanding Dolly!
Will attend our local parade tomorrow then family time for the rest of the day.
Will be holding this sign as I sit and watch the parade. We are indeed a land of the free because of the Brave - Our signers of the Declaration of Independence as well as each and every member of our Armed Forces - from the long past to the present.
I'll also be uttering a few words to our congresscritter if he happens to ride by in the parade

Go, Fourth!
The Fourth of July is a birthday event,
Of fireworks, parades, and a testament,
That an idea shared is a nations prize,
More than churches, and battles, and historys lies.
Americans all wave the flag on the Fourth,
From the West to the East, and the South to the North,
For a day at least, we can stand together,
Like the stands we took in the worst of weather.
Its all the bad times that have made us all strong,
Not the smug apprehension that we did no wrong.
Mistakes have occurred and weve learned from the pain,
So well stand up again knowing whats there to gain.
As the Flag marches by on this Fourth of July,
With a pang in your heart and a tear in your eye,
Link arms with your brothers, and stand for the pledge,
And be glad for their strength for we stand at the edge.
The world need not fear us, for we pose no threat,
And the best of our being they havent seen yet,
America rising in awesome display,
Is a reason for gladness, O World, on this day!

Yoo Hoo! I’m back.
Been a busy, hot day today, At 7 pm the current temp is 104 by the thermometer out back. Parade this morning, food and swimming at our daughter and sil’s house. A great time, but let me tell y’all about the parade...
We had a parade in Modesto, CA this morning. Consider there are no military bases nearby so we do not have a large presence of military personnel, but there are a lot of Vets.
Leading off our parade were members of the Modesto PD motorcycle drill team. They were followed by the Color Guard - VFW personnel. As the Colors passed by, I naturally stood, uncovered, and placed my USS PIEDMONT (AD-17) baseball cap over my heart. Did this each time a unit passed by with our nations flag.
Then a few units passed that caused me to rise and render a salute - Vietnam Veterans Assoc members, GI Forum and lastly, The Blue Star Moms group float. Walking in front were 6 members of our Armed Forces in uniform.
My salute to this last group was interrupted by three of those soldiers who came over to me to shake my hand. Imagine that, these heroes in uniform, thanking me for honoring them.
Excuse me, I gotta go get another kleenex.
