CAIR Views Conservative Commentary As 'Incitement' By Susan Jones CNSNews.com Senior Editor July 03, 2007
(CNSNews.com) - An Islamic advocacy group is urging its supporters to call a Washington, D.C., radio station to "express your concerns about the Islamophobic attitudes" expressed by conservative columnist and author Cal Thomas.
In a commentary on news-talk WTOP radio Monday morning, Thomas discussed the car-bomb terror attacks recently thwarted in the United Kingdom. The eight Muslims arrested in connection with the plot include several physicians.
"How much longer should we allow people from certain lands, with certain beliefs to come to Britain and America and build their mosques, teach hate, and plot to kill us?" Thomas asked.
He also compared Muslims to a "slow spreading cancer" that must be stopped.
In its message to supporters, the Council on American-Islamic Relations described Thomas''s remarks as "incitement." The message included the name and work telephone number of WTOP's vice president of programming.
In recent years, CAIR has issued a number of "incitement watches" which CAIR''s critics view as efforts to squelch free speech.
On Tuesday, July 17, CAIR plans to host a panel discussion in Washington on "the increasing anti-Muslim rhetoric within the conservative movement in the United States."
The panelists will include David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, and Parvez Ahmed, CAIR chairman.
The discussion will focus "on the negative impact of [anti-Muslim] views on religious tolerance in America and on relations with the Muslim world," CAIR said.
I hadn't heard that. Thanks.
When I was in college during the early 1980s I took a course on terrorism. In that course we studied the tactics and objectives of the major terrorist groups of the day. they were the IRA (Irish), Red Brigade (German) and the Shining Path (Maoists-Asian). Middle Eastern terrorism was clumsy and poorly orgainzed.
We taught and encouraged Middle Eastern terrorism as we supplied insurgents in Afghanistan to battle the Soviets, in Iraq to fight Iran and in Lebanon to keep a check on radicals threatenting Israel. I am absdolutely not saying that we or the Reagan admin is the cause of our terrorism threat from the MIddle East, I am saying that it is so simple to be a terrorist, that once the idea has been raised it can only be abated through a mixture of political social and forceable means. This is how it has worked with the Irish, Germans and Maoists.
To suggest that terrorism is endemic to Islam is ridiculous and narrow minded. It has been around since before the Boston Tea Party and will continue, regardless of culture.
And in response to those who want to say we have a right to defend our sulture from muslims, America is multi-cultural, always has been always will be. When the founding fathers positted the idea of a British-like society in which English would be the offical language, the Germans of Pennsylvania, and Appalachia put a quick end to it. Our strength has been managing multi-culturalism, not trying to extiguish it.

Bigotry gives conservatism a bad name.
WTOP is on 2 FM frequencies. Sister station is the orig.
WTOP, now WTWP (1500)—”Washington Post Radio”. Who owns
them? Bonneville broadcasting, the media arm of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
wikipedia: “Bonneville International Corporation, managed by Deseret Management Corporation, is a broadcasting company wholly owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the LDS Church). Headquartered in the Triad Center Broadcast House in Salt Lake City, Utah, Bonneville’s name alludes to the prehistoric Lake Bonneville which once covered much of modern-day Utah. Bonneville owns about 30 radio stations and one television station.

“You overlook the studies that show far too high of a percentage of these non-violent muslims SUPPORT what the violent ones are doing.”
As if that wasn’t bad enough...heard Brigett Gabriel on a radio show yesterday. Terrorism experts believe the number world-wide of islamists is close to 300 million - What’s the population of the U.S.?
I know not who you are....but if we now must defend cair on this forum, and must defend cair because cair seeks to stiffle freedom, I’ll seek another forum where the truth can be told.....
...and muslims give humanity a bad name.
Until islamic terrorists crawl back in their holes, we have a right to be vigilant and protect ourselves. To expect us to be silent is foolhearty. This country was not founded by silent defeatists.
“To suggest that terrorism is endemic to Islam is ridiculous and narrow minded. It has been around since before the Boston Tea Party and will continue, regardless of culture.”
Actually, islamic terrorism has been around for 1,400 years +.
Bigotry or reality?
Should be very effective. I think CAIR's membership is down to about 15 people now.
we have 1 of the 15 on the forum today instructing us on the rules of the forum...LOL
Sorry to burst your balloon, but Cal Thomas is right. You are right in saying that not all muslims are terrorists, but then again, 99% of terrorists are muslim. those who wish not to assimilate into our society should leave. BTW, I really don't care if CAIR thinks I'm a bigot or not.
As another astute poster mentioned - let’s play a game. (sad, if it wasn’t so serious) Make a list on one side of the page of all the terror acts committed worldwide in the past 20 years by moslems and list the acts committed by any other group on the other side.
Is there any question which side would have the greater number of listings?
How can relaying these facts be considered bigotry or racism or islamophobia or whatever you want to call it?
It is foolhardy to allow PC to keep us from protecting ourselves and our country from these fanatics.
“Make a list on one side of the page of all the terror acts committed worldwide in the past 20 years by moslems...”
If it’s a game, I pick this list to win.
“My Plea to Fellow Muslims”
This says it all...

bump
I personally do not believe it will change becuase while 99 percent are not making car bombs, I am willing to venture that 99 percent agree with the goals of the terrorists. The Koran dictates that they agree with it. Therefore, no change can occurr unless it is they change to reject the goals of the terrorists. But honestly you are comparing apples and oranges. If Jews were hellbent on ruling the world and converting everyone to their brand of religion I and most here would say the same about them as we are the Muslims. The few, and I do mean few, Muslims that do speak out against terrorism commited under the guise of Muslim beliefs are respected by myself and I am sure others too. When the majority of Muslims speak out against terrorism and the goals of the terrorists than perhaps I will alter my views regarding the Muslim faith. Until then it remains a cult that needs to be totally destroyed.
BTW, are you Muslim?
“Cal Thomas is simply doing what Paul Revere had done over 200 years ago, warn the non-Muslims on the dangers of Islamofacism.”
______________________________
Paul Revere rode to warn the countryside of the relatively small number of armed British troops that were coming to attack and conquer. These troops made up a small percentage of the Birts that were in the US at the time. Paul Revere did not ride throughout New England to scream, “All British are dangerous and should be killed or expelled from the country”.
You’re pretty generous. Cal Thomas is using ridiculous
CAIR must be another word for lib! They want to stifle anything said that isn’t in agreement with their drivel. Cal is speaking the truth.
It's not a free speech issue, but I will call with my support.
Mohammedans worshiping a false prophet. How dumb is that? On top of that they’re pissed at everyone who doesn’t kow tow to their false prophet
