CAIR Views Conservative Commentary As 'Incitement' By Susan Jones CNSNews.com Senior Editor July 03, 2007
(CNSNews.com) - An Islamic advocacy group is urging its supporters to call a Washington, D.C., radio station to "express your concerns about the Islamophobic attitudes" expressed by conservative columnist and author Cal Thomas.
In a commentary on news-talk WTOP radio Monday morning, Thomas discussed the car-bomb terror attacks recently thwarted in the United Kingdom. The eight Muslims arrested in connection with the plot include several physicians.
"How much longer should we allow people from certain lands, with certain beliefs to come to Britain and America and build their mosques, teach hate, and plot to kill us?" Thomas asked.
He also compared Muslims to a "slow spreading cancer" that must be stopped.
In its message to supporters, the Council on American-Islamic Relations described Thomas''s remarks as "incitement." The message included the name and work telephone number of WTOP's vice president of programming.
In recent years, CAIR has issued a number of "incitement watches" which CAIR''s critics view as efforts to squelch free speech.
On Tuesday, July 17, CAIR plans to host a panel discussion in Washington on "the increasing anti-Muslim rhetoric within the conservative movement in the United States."
The panelists will include David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, and Parvez Ahmed, CAIR chairman.
The discussion will focus "on the negative impact of [anti-Muslim] views on religious tolerance in America and on relations with the Muslim world," CAIR said.

You overlook the studies that show far too high of a percentage of these “non-violent” muslims SUPPORT what the violent ones are doing.

I know the knee jerk response will be, “Well the jews aren’t setting car bombs!!!!!” neither are 99% of muslims-but if all muslims are treated with the bigotry and hatred that THomas is spreading, that will certainly change.
Perhaps you can explain why virtually all terrorist acts committed around the world in the last ten years or so have been carried out by muslims.
I agree that Thomas's remarks were over the top.
However, a large percentage (20%?) of American Muslims have expressed approval of those who are killing innocents in the name of Islam. Some large mosques in the USA continue to host Imams who advocate hate and violence.
The high irony of CAIR trying to gag WT0P, the lib commercial talk radio station here that has been one of their best buddies. Fairness Doctrine advocates beware, the radio station squelching will cut both ways. You know what, CAIR needs to be tagged for the terror-supporting organization that it is and shut down. We should not have to tolerate these traitors in our midst who are trying to destroy our country, and who do not have a basic understanding of the concept of freedom of speech.

They got away with this nonsense the first time by having WMAL fire Michael Graham, so now they think they can do the same with Cal Thomas’ program with WTOP.
Yep, they sure did. The behind the scenes details never made it out, but rumor has it that CAIR had the then Saudi owners of ABC Radio read member station WMAL the riot act and pull Michael’s plug. Chris Berry was the program manager at WMAL who did the hatchet work on Michael.
