Aloha Jinxy and Bubblehead!
The very best Carolina Barbecue sauce I'd ever had, had finely ground pecans added to it. I had saved the recipe but lost it somewhere. If you take a decent pork sauce recipe and add it. you might stumble on a real winner.

Good morning, Everyone. Good morning
Thank you, Lauren, for preparing the Canteen for todays activities. I'll tell you that my favorite BBQ is one that is cooked by someone else. LOL. And, speaking of that, there's this local company that has the best "pulled-pork sandwiches" I've ever had. And, they pack it too.
DC Metroland weather report ~ Today.....Sunshine and clouds mixed. High around 80F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. ~ Tonight....Partly cloudy skies. Low 64F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
(Seems we'll have one more nice day before the humidity and clouds move in)
Well, my vacation officially starts on Thursday, but with the holiday being tomorrow I'm hoping the bosses will grant us early dismissal. I've already got my mind wrapped around the idea of R&R.
Time for me to make my rounds. But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!
Now remember, the Canteen is
So, come on in and sit for a while. There's always plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS

Good morning and (((HUGS))) EG. I’m doing good today. After all, it’s vacation time and today is going to be another nice day. Got to get my walk in early today. I stopped at McDs on the way this morning and got breakfast (and I’m hoping lunch). I had one of those breakfast burritos which was good and packed.
How about you? Got plans for tomorrow?

Well, my plans for tommorow are to simply just sit here at the computer and freep.
A number of communities have called off their fireworks shows due to all the flooding that has taken place. That Low pressure system that's been the source for all this headache is finally moving South and hopefully the rain chances will go down with time.
Still we're under a Flash Flood Watch so we'll see what happens.

Good morning to everyone at the Canteen.
I haven't been on FR since Friday, so I have a lot of catching up to do today.

Oh, yeah, I guess a lot of the lower midwest would have to cancel festivities due to flooding.
But, at least you’ve got the internet!
Enjoy!

(((HUGS))) back at you Beachy.
We will probably get more rain today. Had just at an inch yesterday.
Looks like the 4th will be wet this year. We will have the parade and the other events are canceled.

My favorite BBQ is the slow cooked style we make on my neighbor’s pit. He has a 36” X 60” pit in his backyard. We usually cook about 10 chickens, 6 Boston Butts, several rib racks, and an occasional brisket.
Four to six hours for the heavier cuts and two or so for the chickens and ribs. We use a mop sauce that has butter, onions, Italian salad dressing, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and beer.
We mop about every 30 minutes and add wood coals that is burned in a barrel so the smoke is not too heavy on the cooked meat.
