The increasing use of ultrasound exams at crisis pregnancy centers brings criticism from clinics that provide abortion. They see its use as manipulating pregnant women. Eve Espey, obstetrician/gynecologist at University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, said CPCs are looking at legislation to force women to view an ultrasound before having an abortion.
"I think it's very much a coercive measure," said Espey, "because I think it gets back to your basic right to have the information you want to have."

So, this OB/GYN thinks that having an ultrasound of your baby violates the basic right to have the information you want to have? Did I read that correctly???

In any other surgical procedure, from a root canal to open heart surgery, the patient is shown x-rays,ultrsounds and any other imagery that can be obtained about the area in question. Why is abortion the only procedure where the patient is kept in the dark
To: greyfoxx39
Just the other day I read this story how ancient peoples would throw their babies to be burned alive in a fire to appease the god Moloch and I said to myself “I am so glad we are a very modern, enlightened, and sophisticated people and society and would never, ever do that type of thing....”
To: greyfoxx39
This is the statement of one who has lost the argument before it began.

“Why is abortion the only procedure where the patient is kept in the dark?”
Because the ultrasound would show that the “tissue” was in fact a living , growing fetus :)

The BASIC RIGHT to have the information I want to have. Sweet, I’ll have to check the Bill of Rights on this one, but I’m down with this.
Every time Hillary opens her mouth, and I inadvertently hear her, I’m going to sue her for a violation of my BASIC RIGHTS.
Al Gore - I’ve heard about the Inconvenient Truth. Not only is it inconvenient, I don’t want to know. It’s a basic right of mine and you have been violating my rights.
Do you think Edwards will take the case? I heard he likes specious lawsuits...

Being that she’s basically the school nurse at a public university I’d say that there’s just about a 100% chance that you are correct on your latrine comment ,, why would our children at a public university where they are supposed to be taught critical thinking need something as irrelevant as the facts before killing their child ... I tried to read more of the article but that paper requires a subscription..

Why is abortion the only procedure where the patient is kept in the dark? Shame, guilt, avoiding the truth, etc., etc., etc...

IMO, viewing an ultrasound could spare the young woman years of guilt and remorse once she realizes that she did not eliminate an “unviable tissue mass” but instead aborted a real baby. The pro-choicers do not want pregnant woman who are considering abortion to have the whole truth because they will “choose life”.

I think it is a wonderful tool, and it is the least a mother could do before having her child ripped to shreds. Anything to save lives.
