Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday she is appalled by remarks made by Republican Fred Thompson suggesting that some Cuban refugees could be terrorists.
Thompson, an actor and former Tennessee senator, spoke about Cuban refugees Wednesday during an appearance in South Carolina.
The topic was illegal immigration and Thompsons opposition to any legislation that does not do enough to protect Americas borders.
Using Cuban refugees as an example, Thompson said, I dont imagine theyre coming here to bring greetings from Castro. Were living in the era of the suitcase bomb,
Clinton, New Yorks junior Democratic senator, speaking to a group of Hispanic supporters attending a Disney World convention of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, said I was appalled when one of the people running for, or about to run for, the Republican nomination talked about Cuban refugees as potential terrorists.
She said Thompson, apparently doesnt have a lot of experience in Florida or anywhere else, and doesnt know a lot of Cuban-Americans.
Clarifying his remarks, Thompson posted a response on his website - imwithfred.com - saying he understands how important Cuban Americans have been to this country. He also noted that the Cuban government remains on the state departments terrorist list.
That is why we must oppose the illegal immigration of Castros agents into the United States while welcoming the vast majority who immigrate legally and with legal intentionns, said Thompson.
no. just the exerpt here. and the reason is, that my post addressed her comments and the response they were getting on FR. If you follow my posts about this subject around, you’ll see a theme.
You need to practice before you'll be good enough for the networks.
Oh you beat me to it... LOL
When did it occur to you that Janet Reno worked for Jorge Bush.
I know quite a lot of Cubans and they hate Klinton because she is a Marxist . I’m not kidding
I can guarantee you that the Cubans in Florida know exactly what Fred is talking about.
And Fred doesn’t say things like he said unless he has some intelligence data to back it up.
Also I wouldn’t give weight to poor Jeb. His brother foreclosed on his political future and made it so the Bush family is non-grata in those regions of America that are not yet part of Amexico.
If this headline said “Hillary Clinton Says She is Appalling”, then I would have considered it worth reading and perhaps believable... As is is, not interested.
Very cool. :-)
The Wicked Witch of NY is very familiar w/Miami Cuban Americans. She kicked down the door of one family w/a machine gun to throw an orphan back to Hitler...ah...Castro.
Course PravdABDNC does not notice the irony in her statement.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Hitlery is "appalled" because Fred is a viable candidate that could stifle her chances at becoming the first USA dictator.
Nothing else appalls her, not even her husband.
“Jeb married a woman of Cuban dissent.”
I think that Jeb’s wife is from Mexico.
This is what Fred Thompson said:
For a while, it didnt look like Washington was going to listen to us regarding real immigration reform. Thankfully, weve been spared a serious mistake, but I wonder if things would have turned out the way they did without the work done by the bloggers, talk radio and the American people. Rush, Hannity, Laura Ingraham, RedState, Powerline, Pajamas Media and a lot of others have done a great job. Take that, Fairness Doctrine.
Anybody who knows my track record or has read some of the things Ive written about the Cuban-American community knows where I stand. While the communist dictatorship has been a tragedy for Cuba, America has been in some ways, at least, the beneficiary.
One of those benefits is the presence of the great Cuban-American artist, Gloria Estefan. She co-wrote a song called No hay mal que por bien no venga which I understand translates something like theres no bad that doesnt bring some good. The bad that is Castros tyranny has given America one of the greatest communities in the Western Hemisphere.
And no one knows better than that community that the Castro regime remains dedicated to infiltrating American institutions to spread his ideology of tyranny. Castro admitted it himself in an interview with CNN in 1998.
This is why the Cuban government rightfully remains on the State Departments terrorist list for its continued support of terrorism. Its also why we must oppose the illegal immigration of Castros agents into the United States while welcoming the vast majority who immigrate legally and with legal intentions.
It seems to me that few Americans understand the threat that the illegal entry by Cuban spies represents to our country, though Cuban-Americans have never forgotten or stopped pointing it out. Ambassador Otto Reich, the former Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere has called Castros efforts to penetrate U.S. intelligence networks relentless.
The best-known incident involving Cuban espionage, which many believe may have provided U.S. secrets to hostile Middle Eastern regimes, is probably that of former Defense Intelligence Agency analyst Ana Belen Montes convicted of espionage in 2002. Now, our intelligence picture has been further complicated by the emergence of oil-funded Hugo Chavez and his anti-American, pro-Castro regime. We know that Cuban intelligence officers, for instance, are in South America presumably training Venezuelans and others in the intelligence arts.
Our national security is too important an issue to let folks twist words around for a one-day headline. Cuban-Americans are among the staunchest opponents of illegal immigration, and especially so when its sponsored by the Castro regime. We know we have a porous southern border in which they can currently slip through easily. Our enemies know it too.
All of us should be rightfully concerned about Castro and his ideological pal Chavez sending agents and provocateurs into the United States through Mexico. Im sure that Cuban-Americans share this concern as well.
Weve seen today what the voice of the people can do in Washington. Lets hope similar voices can do the same thing for Cuba.
You forget Wilson, FDR, Lyndon Johnson, and Jimmah Carter.
Was it Governor Clinton and Hillary R standing outside the gate at Camp Chaffee ready to embrace all those Cuban refugee elements released from Castro’s prisons and elsewhere during their mini-riot or what? Christine Todd Whitman said the racial profiling by the Arkansas State Police after the riot belonged to the Clinton Era legacy.
i’m appalled that hillary is appalled.
