Collapse Of Immigration Bill Draws Jeers In Mexico
Associated Press ^ | June 30, 2007 | Staff

Opinionmakers and migrant advocates in Mexico said Friday that the collapse of U.S. immigration reform plans hurts Mexican workers, U.S. employers and antiterrorism efforts.

President Bush's plan to legalize as many as 12-million unlawful immigrants from around the world while fortifying the border failed in the U.S. Senate on Thursday.

"This is very bad news for Mexican migrants in the U.S., " said Jorge Bustamante, special rapporteur to the U.N. human rights commission for migrants. "It means the continuation and probably a worsening of the migrants' vulnerable conditions."

The Rev. Luis Kendziersky, director of a shelter for migrants in the border city of Tijuana, said it appeared senators "are focused more on the political game than on the real needs of the people."

"According to polls, the majority of the people (in the United States) want legality with concessions for undocumented migrants, but the radicals make a lot of noise, " he said.

Some major newspapers called the Senate's action hypocritical.

"It's obvious that the politicians of that country want laborers, but they are not willing to legalize the labor that they need, " El Universal said in an editorial.

On Thursday, Mexican President Felipe Calderon called the Senate's decision a "grave error" and a failure to find a "sensible, rational, legal solution to the migration problem."

Not everyone in Mexico was disappointed by the death of the bill, which would have created a system to weed out illegal workers from U.S. jobs.

Al Rojas, spokesman for the advocacy group Front of Mexicans Abroad, said the law "would have imposed prejudices, treating migrants like criminals and judging them."

"Faced with a bad law, we preferred that they approved nothing, " he said in a telephone interview.

Oh no - it’s awful here for illegal aliens and mexico doesn’t like us for not pandering to them.

So why do they keep coming?

We’re such awful people here in America. We just don’t “give” as much as we should to Mexico and illegal aliens. I think all those wonderful illegals ought to go home and stay home. That will sure show us!

Let it be a warning to them that we've had enough and we will not put up with illegals anymore.

Coming from a country that now insists we move a fence 1 to 6 feet in the middle of the desert because it is “on their land”.

Now is a good time to start enforcing the law and kicking them out.
If they keep having to pay coyotes to bring them back, eventually they will run out of money.
Cut off their jobs and source of income, and no money flows out of America to buy their way back.

WTG America! We can still win the battle if we set our mind ot it.

Mexico needs to get its own house in order before criticizing us. If they did, they wouldn’t need us to provide jobs for their poor.

Hand those we are deporting back to Mexico a rifle and a handful of cartridges and tell them to take their own country back from the corrupt officials running Mexico into the ground.

Spiking the amnesty bill was merely letting off steam from the pressure cooker.

Secure the border, take away all welfare and education benefits, refuse housing to illegals, and heavily fine or imprison the employers of illegal aliens...will turn down the fire under the cooker.

Question:

Why do Mexicans (and other latinos) consistently turn to the north to find work. Are there no S.A. countries who can support migration from other nations to increase their own productivity?

What about Mexico getting some aid from other S.A. nations??

Why is it always about the U.S. playing nanny to the world?

Why isn’t the R.C. church spreading more assistance in the form of monetary relief - they have enough and Mexico is devoted to that religion.

Do I sound isolationist? I’m fast becoming one for some temporary common sense planning for the salvation of the U.S.A. which is fast becoming entangled in international over domestic issues - at a huge cost to our own people.

Since you're out and about this morning, Liz I figured I'd give you a ping...

Looks like sombody is trying to bring the UN into the illegal alien "problem".
And note that he's not calling them the illegal aliens that they are...they're "migrants". US law means nothing when UN/"international law" overrules it.

Watch your heads for the low overhang.

I have a sensible, rational, and legal solution. Clean up your stinking corrupt government so that your people don't have to run away from you.

“According to polls, the majority of the people (in the United States) want legality with concessions for undocumented migrants, but the radicals make a lot of noise, “

Who knew that 72% of US citizens were in fact “radicals”.

Yea, we DO in fact want legality.....but we don’t want or need amnesty.

Obey the laws.

Moron alert here.

Yep, they will need those rifles to fight off the Privalged Mexicans who will be at the border (actually their military) pushing the deported back into the U.S.
