Dobbs: This government might be as well the largest employer of illegal workers in this country. It's just another of many and mounting reasons why the Bush administration and the one before it have so little credibility on the issue of illegal immigration and border security.
Christine Romans has our report.
The biggest employer of people not authorized to work in this country, the government. A little noticed audit last year of so-called non-work Social Security numbers showed the government, retail and universities are top employers of non-citizens who are not authorized to work here.
From 2001 to 2003, seven federal agencies, seven state agencies and three local governments employed thousands of people using Social Security cards clearly marked as non-work documents. The government has issued some 7 million such cards, certain foreign nationals are eligible for them so they can get public benefits. But it is illegal for them to work. Yet the government over three years illegally employed more than 49,000 such cardholders.
REP. STEVE KING (R), IOWA: It's obvious that if they have the tools at their very disposal and they are not utilizing them to purge the illegals that they have on their own payrolls, how can they go to the private sector employers and demand that they comply with the law when the federal government is not complying with the law.
ROMANS: About a third of those workers found in the audit were later identified to have paperwork mix-ups. But the rest had no legal basis to be employed. The audit found unauthorized work by non-citizens weakens SSN integrity, and may require that the agency pay benefits to these individuals.
ROMANS: The report also found, "non-citizens who work without DHS authorization could affect homeland security because they may obtain employment in sensitive areas.

I like Lou Dobbs (so far) except for his one major flaw ... and the one before it , means the Clinton "watch", but Dobbs won't say the word. Maybe he doesn't like to use filthy words?
I’m glad to see that there’s someone from you state with some common sense!! For awhile I thought Vermont had joined the EU and decided to hell with the USA based upon some of the judges and comments from officals in Vermont.
Welcome back to the land of the free.
Amen.
I hate to lose the good ones, but at this point in time I understand the concept of “my guy is OK, but we need to get rid of yours” has got to go. They’ve all got to go. It may take 3 or 4 election cycles, but they all have to go.
1) Do not vote for any candidate that receives campaign contributions from any group or organization. Financial support must be from individual citizens only. Too many contributions come from entities and we do not know what foreign commitments they place above our sovereignty.
2) Do not vote for any candidate that receives campaign contributions from outside the area the office is to serve. Confine Gubernatorial Candidates and US Senators to raising funds with their states only. Fund raising for Representatives to the House must be confined to the district they are to serve.
3) Vote for no candidates that campaigns outside the area to be served.
4) Apply these same principles to all elected offices be it a state legislator, a county judge, a mayor, or councilman.
Force our elected to contain their election activities to the people the office they seek are to serve. This goes for political parties too. Force them to work within the area to be served with no transfer of funds from one area to another. Restore a Republican form of government.
I, for one, never left.
I agree. Plus, the Executive branch is responsible for ENFORCING our immigration laws. On other issues I like Bush, but this is one where he has fallen down on the job, possibly because he doesn’t believe in it.
Oh he believes in it alright; he made damn sure it was resurrected within one week of the American people killing it. When Reid announced that the Senate could not get cloture he immediately announced that he will ask Harry Reid to resurrect it, then he went about dilligently trying to convince Republican Senators to vote for amnesty. So I would not say he "fell down on the job", I would say he worked tirelessly to get the job done. It's just that his version of the "job" was vastly different than what the great majority of the American people thought it should be. Why everyone wants to give the greatest champion of this anti-American cause a pass is beyond me.
I liked Lou Dobbs when he said Paris Hilton spent more time in jail than an illegal alien.
I agree with you. You misunderstood what I was saying. I am disappointed that the administration has not enforced our immigration laws on the books. If they enforced current laws, we would not be in the hole we’re in. Congress can pass whatever laws they want, but if the executive branch doesn’t enforce them, the laws are meaningless.
Regards,
Boy, does this lend an interesting twist to the recent brouhaha on Capitol Hill!!!
bump
That popped right out at me too! Very scary!
We are truly through the looking glass!

“We (the opposition) might be wise to formulate our own plan, here and now, and not wait for DC (they are working with the enemy), cause to wait on DC is to not see nothing but the arrival of more illegals, excuse me illegalities.”
Your are wise friend. We should start a specific forum on steps We the People can take to first enforce our borders and then enforce these illegals to pay taxes & learn english or be deported. Pressure on employers can be done by We the People also, such as organizing with the Minutemen to make employers picking up truckloads of illegals VERY uncomfortable. We meaning you and I should ping Jim Robinson with this idea. It can start here and the plan can be circulated to all of talk radio, Fox News, Glenn Beck show etc. etc.
That’s a really good mash.
then let it begin here. I’m slow to sometimes see a post to me, or an email, but something has to be done for Americans and it has to start somewhere. I’ll look forward to hearing from you!
Demand a border fence! Build it NOW!! Beef up the border patrol and close our borders!
