The Supreme Court ruled 53 years ago in Brown v. Board of Education that segregated education is inherently unequal, and it ordered the nations schools to integrate. Today, the court switched sides and told two cities that they cannot take modest steps to bring public school students of different races together. It was a sad day for the court and for the ideal of racial equality.

a great day for all the kids that unfortunately are relegated to attending public school in this country.

The NY Times is bitching. That means that something changed for the better.

Ah, the good ol’ New York Times, where every day is “Opposite Day”.

Liberals are funny. Alec Baldwin, for example, grew up in a lily-white suburb on Long Island but liked to portray his childhood otherwise.

You’re right. I’m willing to bet that every single person in top management at the NY Times sends his kids to a private school.

and it ordered the nations schools to integrate That is not true. Subsequent rulings based on it did indeed though.

Segregation is not the problem, quality of education is the problem. Inner city schools are pathetic.

Youre right. Im willing to bet that every single person in top management at the NY Times sends his kids to a private school. The only way many of the Times' editors could have kids would be with the implementation of a turkey baster and/or a surrogate.

I see they could wait til Friday to publish their masthead editorial. Why, liberalism's race-based future is at stake! These people are beside themselves.

Liberals see people as groups first: blacks, hispanics, men and women. Conservatives see people as individuals first. The Left has turned the entire meaning of
Brown on its head. The petitioners in that case simply wanted to be treated as individuals rather on the basis of their race in being able to get an education. That's both just and commendable. To the
New York Times, race is a factor because like the old Southern racists, liberals believe group characteristics matter more than individual character and talent. So the Left is against equal treatment under the law because it believes, not in equal opportunity for all individuals but rather in race based equal outcomes. No wonder the Newspaper Of Record is in high dudgeon over the Supreme Court's decision.

Yeah, if we could only force those kids to spend 45 minutes to an hour and a half on a bus morning and evening..., their lives would be ever-so-much better. Balderdash!

Fifty three years is not long enough to get it right?
Maybe there's something else at play here, that is unidentifiable or imponderable.

The libs here in Seattle just cannot let go of race as a dividing line between people.
This ruling will change nothing with them. They’ll just come up with some other way to exercise their racism.

From Justice Roberts:
“The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race,” Roberts said.
Only liberals could find fault with this.

Nothing will change.
Wake Co., NC uses ‘socio-economic diversity’ to bus kids around.
Same outcome.
