The Honor of Ron Paul by Joe Sobran
"He may have become at last what he has always deserved to be: the most respected member of the U.S. Congress. He is also the only Republican candidate for president who is truly what all the others pretend to be, namely, a conservative. His career shows that a patriotic, pacific conservatism isnt a paradox."

I also don’t see where Ron Paul can be compared to Goldwater or Reagan. Goldwater was a founding father of the New Right and was an interventionist when it came to foreign policy. He supported Eisenhower not Taft in 1952.
Paul on the other hand explicitly states that he is a “Taft Republican” and a non-interventionist.

I’m shocked...shocked I say
And don’t give me crap about anti-Zionism isn’t anti-Semitism.
I don’t see any of them complaining as much about money to Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, et al or US presence in Korea, Japan, Germany, Britain, the Balkans, or any of the other international hot-spots that are vital to US interests.

Ron Paul is not a conservative; hes a libertarian. They are not the same thing.
The Conservative movement was founded by libertarians. If you're not libertarian you're just a faux conservative.

What if his inner thoughts are that the United Nations are a bunch of kooks, evil, and simply plain wrong? Would he vote in favor of a resolution that would have Congress going begging to the UN to state the obvious?

Oh, it does not. Its a toothless resolution that cant be enforced and would make no change in law or policy. Anyone can vote anyway they want to on these resolutions and it makes no difference. Which makes it all the more telling that Ron essentially voted FOR Ahmedinejad, even though doing so wouldn't have resulted in anything so nasty as, say, a war or anything.
The voters need to stop being so easily pacified, and demand real policy change, not these pointless resolutions.
I agree. Time for some covert CIA-induced regime change in Iran.

The Conservative movement was founded by libertarians. If you're not libertarian you're just a faux conservative. So, being for traditional social values and against open borders (while philosophical libertarians generally tend to the opposite) makes one a "faux conservative"? What planet did you say you were from again?
To: VfB Stuttgart
Does he want to impose a Nazi-like, fascist order on the country, with rights curtailed and dissent stifled with a euphemistically titled Patriot Act?
Wait ... no, its Bush whos done all those things?
Absurd conclusions don't help your argument.

Ron Paul must be delighted by this ringing endorsement from prominent anti-Semite Joe Sobran.
Joe Sobran likes to round out his general crackpottedness by championing the theory that William Shakespeare didn't really write his own plays.
To: NHGOPer
I agree, he is a walking model of honesty and integrity.

Well, Im not willing to give up my constitutionally-granted rights in exchange for a feeling of security. Which "Constitutionally-granted: rights of yours are taken by the USA PATRIOT Act, exactly?
Along with my question, I'll offer up a helpful hint: the Constitution doesn't grant rights. It guarantees rights that already exist independently of it.
To: Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus
So, being for traditional social values and against open borders
There is only one traditional social value...liberty.
Open borders is what we have now. Paul wants to close the borders, so I guess you're on the wrong side of that issue too.
