A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

I was trying to find the perfect place for you to order roses next year. I will. I find 2 reliable sources closed. :( So I will find the best one for you yet. :)

Recieved this from Nan yesterday. I don't see that she posted it, so I will share it with you for Warm and Fuzzy Wednesday.
"I recently attended a showing of "Superman 3" here at LSA Anaconda (IRAQ) . We have a large auditorium we use for movies as well as memorial services and other large gatherings. As is the custom back in the States, we stood and snapped to attention when the National Anthem began before the main feature.
All was going as planned until about three-quarters of the way through the National Anthem the music stopped. Now, what would happen if this occurred with 1,000 18-22 year-olds back in the States? I imagine there would be hoots, catcalls, laughter, a few rude comments, and everyone would sit down and call for a movie. Of course, that is, if they had stood for the National Anthem in the first place. Here, the 1,000 soldiers continued to stand at attention, eyes fixed forward.
The music started again. The soldiers continued to quietly stand at attention. And again, at the same point, the music stopped. What would you expect to happen? Even here I would imagine laughter as everyone sat down and expected the movie to start. Here, you could have heard a pin drop. Every soldier stood at attention.
Suddenly there was a lone voice, then a dozen, and quickly the room was filled with the voices of a thousand soldiers 'And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?' It was the most inspiring moment I have had here in Iraq. I wanted you to know what kind of Soldiers are serving you here."

This made my Tuesday warm and fuzzy.

Looking forward to the thread you are doing together. Hope it will be a two or more day thread!
so ugly he is beautiful Lori! Thanks for posting the note from Nan, Amy. Good one & I can see how it made your day better
On our dog walk in the river yesterday John & I encountered a family from Florida visiting. It is very rare to see anyone else in the remote area we go to.
He is an artist & will be displaying/selling paintings at the Boston Arts Festival this weekend. He is from Ft. Lauderdale & had his wife & 4 gorgeous teen daughters.. AND he had a little puppy a Papallion that our four big dogs wanted to eat.
We chatted a bit & I told him about the thread I did a few years ago on the baby squirrel adopted by the Pap mom. He wanted the link & I surprised myself by remembering his email addy & sent it to him. He wrote back & was thrilled & loved it & said his daughters all emailed it to their friends.
Here is a pix from the thread & a link to it. Always nice to go back to past threads & see the pix & comments as well as the thread itself & remember the fun & the hassles of putting it together
Sad to see LadyX & Zac's Mom posting & now are having warm fuzzies in heaven.
