A discussion thread about Fred vs Duncan
I’m liking Hunter because of his background—conservative on issues, military background, his past and present voting record.
Would vote for either. Fred is more electable, and thus primary time he gets my vote.
Both. Although I like a Thompson/Watts ticket, I believe Hunter, should be around in an advisory capacity.
Fred is popular because he articulates conservative views better than the other candidates and his supporters know his views.
Hunter would probably make an excellent president, but unfortunately he hasn't any money...and we all know it comes down to money.
Which is an odd statement considering Fred has moved to the top without spending money. Hunter just did not get it done.
As long as Mitt and Rudy loose, I’m good.
I prefer Duncan Hunter because of his political experience, his military experience, his unwavering position on illegal immigration and the need for a secure border, his leadership, and his position on the War Against Islamo-terrorism. I think he is by far and away the best political hope for continued conservative values in this nation. I will continue to support him over any other GOP candidate, until he either wins the nomination or until he removes himself from the race. If the latter, then and only then will I consider another candidate, and at this point, it would likely be Fred Thompson. The rest of the candidates can just go quietly away as far as I’m concerned.
Yeah, yeah, yeah...we know. It’s not news.
“Hunter because consistency counts”
Fred because having a remote possibility of winning counts.
YES!
By the time the National Conventions roll around, the amnesty bill will probably be signed and become law. Does Fred or Duncan have the ability to create a new plan that includes our new citizens so they dont all become pawns of the liberals? Do either of them speak Spanish?
Hopefully the House will take care of that. But I am going to contact Hunter’s campaign and volunteer for whatever I can. It is not too late for Hunter at all. The first primary is still a half year away at the least.
You’re not flamed for posting facts. You’re flamed for posting the exact same cut-and-paste post 12 times on every thread where Thompson’s name comes up.

Both candidates are quite conservative, and quite acceptable. Now, I know the Duncanistas will run Fred down (in fact, one already has) by putting up that bogus NumbersUSA list showing that "Fred wants to sell out all us patriotic, God-fearin' Amurikan workers to them that New World Order types and them thar Mescan illegals!" I encourage anybody with the time to actually look the bills and amendments up online through the House of Representatives websites. I did, and found that their list is a lot of hokum that gives absolutely no context to the votes, and is designed solely to misleadingly present Fred as being "soft on immergrayshun".
Duncan is not without his flaws.
Flip it for me.
Hunter I’m about 75% in agreement with, Fred about 90%. Hunter is too protectionist for his own good. His heart is in the right place, but I think he’s a bit too strict on trade issues. On immigration, I agree with him and think he’s a bit better than Thompson.
However, on the flip side, Thompson is far better on tax and fiscal issues than Hunter. Also, Hunter is more willing to compromise Consititutional Federalism for a “conservative” cause, whereas Fred will vote against something percieved as conservative if he feels that it is contrary to Federalist ideas.
Count me in. I prefer Hunter but can go with Fred if he takes the primary.
Hunter-Thompson 2008
It’s not just for gonzos.
I believe Hunters stance on immigration, trade, and manufacturing in America would resonate with moderates and blue dog Dems. He has a great personal story and is very intelligent.
Fred just seems to me like he is practicing for a role. Maybe in the months to come he will give me something to support. Right now Hunter is the very best candidate, issues wise, of all the candidates running.
I believe the more people hear from him the better he will do, but it takes money and time. Supporters need to pass the word to friends and family.
TANCREDO.!
