Received this morning from Simon Wiesenthal Centers Israel Director Efraim Zuroff (bold emphasis added): Wiesenthal Center Expresses Outrage At Massive Outburst of Nostalgia for Croatian Fascism at Zagreb Rock Concert:
Jerusalem The Simon Wiesenthal Center today expressed its sense of outrage and disgust in the wake of a massive show of fascist salutes, symbols and uniforms at a rock concert by popular ultra-nationalist Croatian singer Thompson attended by 60,000 people in Zagreb last night. In a letter sent today to Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, the Centers chief Nazi-hunter Israel director Dr. Efraim Zuroff noted the presence of Croatian dignities, including the Minister of Science, Education and Sports, at the event and called for the banning of concerts by singers like Thompson who glorify fascism and racism. According to Zuroff:
According to the Croatian media, the concert turned into a massive fascist demonstration with tens of thousands of people shouting the infamous Ustasha salute of Za dom spremni. In addition, numerous participants came wearing Ustasha uniforms and symbols. To make matters worse, in attendance last night were officials and members of Parliament, as well as the Minister of Science, Education [!!] and Sports.
Under the current circumstances, I believe that the time has come to prohibit public concerts by those who write songs of nostalgia for Jasenovac and inspire the show of Ustasha symbols, which constitute open and blatant incitement against all the minorities in Croatia.

Might have something to do with the meddling the UN and NATO have done in that region over the past decade, no?
That whole region is soooo beautiful, and yet so embattled.
Her T shirt shows a picture of war criminal Ante Gotovina and says, "A thick fog will descend again" from a WWII Nazi Ustashi song that says:
A dense fog descended on Zagreb, It was no dense fog above Zagreb, It was the brave army of the Poglavnik (the Fuehrer, Croatian President Ante Pavelic). Poglavnik, gather up the army, And lead it to bloody battle to Drina (border between Bosnia and Serbia). Poglavnik gave them the name, brave Ustashe, That is the army defending our homes. A dense fog descended on Kupres (majority-Serb Herzegovina town which the Black Legion terrorized in the 40s), It was no dense fog above Kupres. Their leader was knightly Boban, a real Ustasha (Black Legion commander Rafael Boban). Under the mosque he shouts, a brave Ustasha. (Probably a reference to the Bosnian Muslims who served in the Black Legion.) Poglavnik named them the Black Legion. It was a brave army, the Black Legion.

And the best part......
This is Miomir Zuzul , former Croatian Foreign Minister and Ambassador to the US and UN and his family at this fascist lovefest!
All from Julia Gorin's Republican Riot
Woodstock all over again.
Neil Young concert?
L
Fascinating.
No. During WWII, Nazi Germany backed the WWWII Independent State of Croatia, where Croat Fascists and Muslim Fascists allied in a massive genocide against Serbs, Jews and Gypsies. These Croats (called the Ustashi) went underground for nearly fifty years, only to resurface in the break up of Yugoslavia. And who was at the front of the line backing Croat Independence? Germany. And who was Croatia's ally once again? The Muslims of Bosnia and Kosovo!
What Germany could accomplish in the Balkans during 2 World Wars, we helped them do 15 years ago.
The Nazis and the Muslim allies are back with a vengeance, pretending to fight one another, but really enabling one another. The only difference is that this time, the US is on their side, instead of being their enemy.
Certain Croatian fans of their soccer; have broken into Fascist types of celebrations too, all sides have their sins, I am sure; but it is well documented that during the Balkan wars, some resorted back to Croatia’s past that saw them as an ally with Nazi Germany; the Croats were the Ustache. I have no idea how widespread this is; but there football fans have gotten into plenty of trouble.
Everything old comes back again—like it or not.
Bokababe,
Why does this guy call himself “Thompson”? Not a very Croatian name. I’m rather insulted because it happens to be my family name and I don’t like being associated with Neo-Nazi scum.
Clinton’s Balkan policy was a shame upon America and I am very angry with Bush for continuing it. The Serbs were unfairly demonized IMHO.
Miomir Zuzul-——Former Commie now a fascist!
What’s next Islamofascist?
Croatians are really a blast!
And this is what it looked like for Serbs & Jews the last time!
A history of WWII Croatia here.
From what I read “Thompson” refers to the name of a submachine gun.
Sick Bas****ds
Someone else I know asked the same question for the same reasons, and this was the explanation he got:
The "Thompson" moniker refers to the "Tommy-gun," a Prohibition-era > automatic weapon . Some of those had made their way to Yugoslavia during WW2, > and had been stored as museum pieces until 1991, when Croatian militias > "liberated" them and used them against the Serbs. >
Here’s a couple of really frightening videos set to Thompson’s music:

And this is the tip of the iceberg. There are probably 50 or more of them on You Tube. I got 20+ just with the Ustashi phrase “Za dom spremni”.
I cannot stand to watch any more. Using the Lord’s symbols like Hitler’s masses did.
I know they were in the past——but I wonder what percentage of the Croatians are caught up in this demented stuff...now.
You know, I thought that might be the case, but then I thought, why would a Neo-Nazi Ustashe name himself after an American weapon that was widely used against Nazis in WWII? So, I am guessing that perhaps the OSS in WWII dropped Thompsons to the Chetniks and Communist partisans and those wound up in Yugoslav museums and were as you say, “liberated” by Croatian militias who used them against the Serbs.
I know they were in the pastbut I wonder what percentage of the Croatians are caught up in this demented stuff...now.
Far too many, from what I understand.
They are some sick mofos. It’s a shame as it is really a beautiful country from what I hear but I don’t think I’d want to go there.
