Atlanta-Hartsfield/Jackson Intl Airport has a USO group that really welcomes home the troops.
During a six hour wait for my flight, I watched these fine young Americans get a Welcome Home reception from all the travelers waiting in the central Atrium.
About every 30 minutes, another group of returning troops would be queue'd up from the USO waiting area and led out.
The leader would announce, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome home our troops who are returning home after service in Iraq". The waiting travelers would start clapping and cheering, whistles and shout-outs greeted the two-by column as they marched through.
It was hard not to get teary-eyed and the smiles of the young men and women appreciated the enthusiastic welcome home!
God Bless them all!
You should see this. Now That’s Awesome!
....and Ms. Pelosi and Teddy Kennedy....cried.
GREAT JOB AMERICA!!!!
GREAT JOB TROOPS!!!!! WELCOME HOME!!!
They do the same thing at DFW almost every day at Gate D22.
I should plan a trip to Texas. I really need to go visit some relatives and do a little genealogy research. I could fly in a day or two early. :)
They usually come through mid morning. There is a phone number you can call each day to learn the time of their expected arrival . Let me know prior to your visit and I’ll send you the #
We have been honoring the returning R & R troops at DFW since the programs inception. My friend Bert Brady was honored as ABC’s man of the week recently. We just raised over $700,000.00 for the USO here at DFW after a newspaper column pointed out the USO was having to curtail they types of food served the Troops. See the ABC man of the week video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ud1Bk3Ns-E
