Livestock, not talk radio, gets Lott’s goat

Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) gets that talk radio hosts are angry with him, but he wants to set a couple of things straight: He’s not hiding, and he still doesn’t like that fence.

Lott told a scrum of reporters on June 14 that “talk radio is running America — we have to deal with that problem,” adding that the troublemakers who are overwhelmingly opposed to the immigration legislation “don’t even know what’s in the bill.”

Now they’re really mad.

“The people that he’s actually complaining and whining about now are the ones that tried to defend him when everybody else was throwing him overboard when he made those joking comments at a tribute to Strom Thurmond,” an indignant Rush Limbaugh declared.

By Tuesday, Lott didn’t have an unkind word for the scorned hosts or even the bloggers who have taken up their cause, saying only, “they are both wonderful,” with a sparkle in his eye.

So why didn’t he take the opportunity to defend himself when Sean Hannity wanted to interview him on his nationally syndicated radio show?

Oh, that. Lott said he would have loved to do the interview, but it happened that he was on a tractor plowing his wheat fields when Hannity’s staff tried to track him down.

“Tractors are loud,” he explained. By the time he got the message and called the radio station, it was too late. Lott said he would be happy to reschedule.

Lott’s farm work apparently does more for him than shield him from angry talk radio hosts. It also informs his lack of confidence in a fence as an effective border security measure.

“I’ve got two goats on my place in Mississippi. There ain’t no fence big enough or strong enough to hold them,” Lott said Wednesday. “People are at least as smart as goats, maybe not as agile ... One of the ways I kept those goats in the fence is, I electrified it.”

Of course, Lott added, “I’m not proposing an electrified goat fence” for the southern border. “It’s an analogy here.”

His term’s not up till 2012. That and Lott is undefeatable because of where his base is, and given what happened down there after the Hurricane, if they only vote in one election, it will be to keep Trent Lott in office. He’s a hero in southern MS (which is the most Republican part of the state) because of his stance against the insurance companies. In fact, MS’s longtime insurance commissioner, a holdover from one party days, looks to be out this year because he didn’t go on a tirade against insurance companies. Hurricane Katrina remains the issue for at least 30% of the states population, and most of them vote in the Republican primary.

Lot was lying when he said that this horrible bill ends chain migration ,bringing family members to the U.S.. It supposedly does this after 2016 at which time 100 million 3rd world foreigners would have changed the U.S. voting public so that they control it even more than they do today.

That is just one loop hole . liberals like Lott keep pushing this lie and they conveniently forget to tell you that it kicks in only after 2016. By 2016 20 million illegals would have brought all their family members to America by then.

While you are at it, can you define “pendejo” for me? All I know is, it makes them really mad.

It means, literally “pubic hair.” It would be translated as “dumb-**s.”

It was in some Cheech and Chong movie, where Cheech told Chong that it meant “friend.” After his van went out of control and landed in a Mexican’s yard, a bunch of angry Mexicans came out and Chong said, “Hey, pendejos!”

"I’ve got two goats on my place in Mississippi. "

I've read and re-read this.

And all I can come up with is that Lott believes that getting screwed by a Mexican goat is inevitable.

This isn't the quote I saw earlier. The other quote was much funnier:

"One of the ways I kept those goats in the fence is, I electrified them.”

Isn't this wheat GROWING season?

Nope. Most wheat in the U.S. is winter wheat. It gets planted in the fall, and harvested around now.

My memory is of the harvest in Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota, where winter wheat is sown in September and October and harvested in August and September, so I guess Miss Issippi could indeed harvest earlier, now that I lose my inculcated prejudice of the event.

BTW, the first hit on Dogpile search for 'wheat harvest' says the Kansas harvest has just begun.
