I am not sure what the big deal is, though, even if Fred is a non-practicing Church of Christ memember, which evidence in this article seems to say otherwise. Bill Clinton was a non-parcticing Southern Baptist, practicing adultery instead. Not too sure of what Hillary, Giuliani, and McCain practice. Mitt Romney is practicing, but not Christianity. Obama is a non-practicing Black-separatist "Christian" (UCC) AND a non-practicing Muslim. Does anyone know what the Breck Girl practices or doesn't practice???
Bush practices his Christian faith and so does Carter. Some have doubts about them. I say let's vote on their voting records and proven stances on issues.
The only thing this accomplishes is to once again demonstrate that the secular Left in this country have absolutely no understanding of the Evangelical Right.
I believe Rudy is a Catholic, not sure about the others.
The Brentwood church is a group of Christians who are striving together to serve Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, providing us with everything we need to know about life in God’s kingdom. The Christians at Brentwood regularly study together, pray together, and encourage one another in our walk with the Lord. We would be delighted to have you join us in these endeavors.
This is the statement on their web page, hardly what Barry’s church practices.
One of the first sane comments I have seen on the subject for a while. Politics and religion should not be mixed IMHO, a religious faith may give an indication of the candidate's character and how they may lean on certain issues but religion should not have any basis upon how people vote.
Does anyone here want their faith questioned because they don't fill out an attendance card or otherwise attend services regularly? I quit attending and contributing because of the abuse of the political system by most major church organizations. There might will be a larger number of truly faithful people not attending church than there are in regular services.
Harding University: The home of the Wilbur Mills Education Service Co-Op. No kidding. The liberal arts school is located in Searcy, Arkansas.
Seems like the liberals are scared to death of Fred.
What a pity.

Relationship with God is a personal thing. I don’t attend much church and I can 100% attribute that to the fact that my father is a Baptist Minister.
I saw the poster on hypocrisy, both in him and in the fine leaders of the churches he pastored.
Doesn’t mean I don’t love God. Doesn’t mean that I don’t love my country. Doesn’t mean I’m not conservative.
I’m not a big Mitt Romney fan, but to say Mormons are not christians is, in my opinion, wrong. The name of the demonination is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This is from Wikipaedia:
Adherents to the church (usually called Mormons, Latter-day Saints or LDS) believe that Jesus Christ leads the church by revelation given to the President of the Church, whom they consider to be a prophet. They consider themselves to be Christians, but do not consider themselves part of the Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant traditions.
CINO. I think the church has made mention of some of his anti-Catholic positions.
This is nothing more than the Left trying to say to Evangelicals, "See, Fred isn't a bible-thumper like you!" in hopes that we will not support him.
The only thing this accomplishes is to once again demonstrate that the secular Left in this country have absolutely no understanding of the Evangelical Right.
Aided and abetted by clowns like Dobson, who will eagerly carry the Left's water if he thinks it will gain him the slightest financial or political advantage.
He ought to be ashamed.
I couldn't care less about how, when and how often Fred worships. I vote for the man, not his family background, ethnicity or faith.
If he's a good man, a trustworthy man who will uphold his oath to defend the Constitution, he could go to church every Sunday or not at all for all I care.
Rudy Giuliani is an excommunicated former Catholic who still shows up at Masses from time to time to be photographed.
John McCain is an Episcopalian.
You know, all these little hit-piece non-stories make me think Fred has got some people scared. I’m starting to like the guy.
Yeah, like baby killing. That tends to raise eyebrows.
My own Catholicism is long since lapsed, and I don’t even consider myself a believer anymore, and I could still be a better “Catholic” than Rudy.
I believe that Bubba “practiced” his Southern Baptism while he was Arkansas governor. He discovered that the Little Rock services were televised and so he became a visible member of the choir.
Tom Tancredo was raised as a Catholic but now attends an Evangelical Presbyterian church.
I haven't been to church in more than a year because I work Sundays, but that doesn't mean I'm not a Christian. While I'm not necessarily opposed to Fred Thompson, I am not now a supporter of him. Nevertheless, a lack of attendance doesn't mean he's not a Christian, and it ticks me off that someone is suggesting that.
His faith, or lack of it, is between him and God.
It is a very conservative and fundamental denomination (they claim not to be a denomination at all) in general.
The UCC is radically different from the COC.
Barack Obama's church is a UCC church.
