WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- New Zealand authorities have blocked a couple's bid to officially name their new son "4real," saying numerals are not allowed.
Pat and Sheena Wheaton said they decided to name their new baby "4real" shortly after having an ultrasound and being struck by the reality of his impending arrival.
"For most of us, when we try to figure out what our names mean, we have to look it up in a babies book and ... there's no direct link between the meaning and the name," Pat Wheaton told TV One on Wednesday. "With this name, everyone knows what it means."

Welcome aboard! You might get one or two pings a week from us.
You're welcome.
And I think about 3 years ago is when I found it too. Maybe it was posted here???
But I do recall it was a Saturday and I spent hours reading it and was laughing all the time. Amazing that there's people that stoo-pid.
SURE THING.
Didn't know there was a PING List like that.
But would you accept somebody named “Happynewyear”?
Only if that is the middle name. First name must be Cherry in that case. Then, all the other strippers will think she is like really, really smart.
Children are right's bearing individuals just as the parents. The government does have a legitimate role in settling conflicts between rights-bearing individuals. Since children cannot petition the government, that means that the government also has the moral authority to act as a petitioner on the child's behalf.
This is the exact same logic by which I oppose abortion, gay marriage, no-fault divorce, sperm donation, and single motherhood. The issue of children's right is the achilles heal of libertarianism.
Naming your child 4real is not as bad as separating him from his biological parents for selfish reasons. And given that there is an ounce of truth to the libertarian position that acting on behalf of children is a slippery slope, we need to tread gentle when interfering with how parents raise their children. I could legitimately see allowing the name on those grounds. But it is clear that the government has the moral ground to get involved. The only question is whether or not it would be prudent.
our son has a friend named (something)IV.
...he goes by ivy.
