Pair told not to name son '4real'

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- New Zealand authorities have blocked a couple's bid to officially name their new son "4real," saying numerals are not allowed.

Pat and Sheena Wheaton said they decided to name their new baby "4real" shortly after having an ultrasound and being struck by the reality of his impending arrival.

"For most of us, when we try to figure out what our names mean, we have to look it up in a babies book and ... there's no direct link between the meaning and the name," Pat Wheaton told TV One on Wednesday. "With this name, everyone knows what it means."

4real is a lot easier to spell and pronounce
than the names some minorities come up with today.

We named our daughter Nicole.

You’d think we would be safe but from time to time we get the spelling questions “Is that Nicole with a “Y”?”, “Is it N-I-C-O-L-E or is it N-I-C-H-O-L-E”.

Arghhh!

I once ran a day care = and had a little boy the parents had name Ghengis Khan (And had a very English surname)

I refused to call him Ghengis and just used Kahn, quite neutral when used alone; The parents admitted they were soused when they named him - so why not officially rename him rather then make him live with their drunken mistake the rest of his life?

Go easy on the Latino's, especially when they are naming girls. I'm pretty sure there is a law requiring a minimum of three syllables and the last two must be "ina" (pronounced Eee-Nah).

I knew a guy back in college who wanted to name his first 2 kids, Cold beer and Saturday Night.

How and When they were concieved is seldom a good idea for naming your kids.

Signed,

The government is basically telling this couple that it is illegal to make your child hate you.

Dear Pat and Sheena Wheaton,

In response to your request to name your son "4real", please be advised that you're...

Sincerely,

The New Zealand Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages

(P.S. Why don't you try naming him "Sue"?)

My sister went to school with a girl named “Vagina” (pronounced like “Regina” with a “v” instead of an “R”)

That's fine so long as she isn't one.
