88 reasons to despise Duke more
The Washington Times ^ | June 20, 2007 | Tom Knott

Posted on 06/20/2007 6:19:51 AM PDT by Redbob

They are the Duke 88. Or Nifong 88.

They are the leftists, feminists and fascists — professors all — who signed an ad in the student newspaper in April 2006 that condemned the culture of racism and sexism on the campus.

They also bemoaned "what happened to this young woman" in the politically motivated lacrosse case.

They have been conspicuously silent since the facts started to overtake the fabrications of sleazebag district attorney Mike Nifong.

Nifong has been disbarred now, and the university has reached an undisclosed financial settlement with the three former lacrosse players wrongly accused of raping a stripper.

But the Nifong 88 apparently remain convinced of their righteousness, of their higher truth, although they are as prejudiced as racists and sexists. They just have different targets.

The Nifong 88 have not tried to make amends with the three ex-players and their families.

Their thought process has been shown to be egregious. Yet they cling to their upside-down ideology, which goes something like this: Even if these three players are innocent, you certainly know that wealthy white men and their sons have been perpetrating all kinds of horrors against black strippers since the dawn of time.

Duke likes to think it is an elite university. And the school rankings that come out each fall inevitably rank Duke as one of the nation's top universities.

Here is the fundamental problem with the rankings: At Duke, you have 88 nut jobs, a number of them in the history department, looking to influence the still-developing minds of the young.

As someone said, “Some cases are too important for innocence to be allowed as a defense.”

I’m also waiting for some sermons and statements about
how wrong it is to make a false accusation. . .

(Still waiting...)

Anyone that thinks ‘tenure’ is a good idea only need to review whats taken place at Duke in the past year.

Word is that the settlement w/ Duke absolved the 88 of all liability - the second stupid move of the Duke LAX boys.

Sooner or later, the Duke settlement figure will leak out. I’m betting its in the many $ millions. The Duke 88 need some consciousness raising exercises, perhaps in a reeducation camp in Cambodia...

Actually, this illustrates one of the huge problems in America today. Like it or not, white men where the prime movers in building America. That’s a fact, but to simply point out that fact in America today is considered racist.

And that dovetails into the problem we see here. White men in America today are immediately seen as irrelavant. White men are either controlling, evil, greedy and racist or stupid, lazy, incompetent and racist. Our culture is trying to marginalize white men. The feminists told us of the talent we were ignoring and losing by not having women in key positions. We’re trying to swing the other way and throw away another pool of talent.

Is there a list of the 88 somewhere?
That list should be kept alive on the web and in the blogosphere.
forever.

that condemned the culture of racism and sexism on the campus.

Because that kind of culture would be unjust.Of course, ignoring the constitutional right to presumption of innocense is not unjust in their minds. That's why I wrote the Duke spokesman that my well credentialed kid, who is a rising senior and within Duke's geographic area and well within their academic requirements, will have nothing to do with them. They might as well save the cost of of any more letters to my household.

Jon Stewart commenting on video clips of Nancy Grace in the Duke case... absolutely devastating! And very, very funny. I wish this could be repeated for each and every one of the identically minded deceitful PC Nazis of the Committee of 88.

Why blame the boys for wanting to get on with their lives? Remember that two of them haven't finished school yet and the other has a new job of Wall Street- not exactly one where you have a lot of free time to fly down to NC to pursue 88 lawsuits. Most likely they would receive very little from them combined.

These guys were victims, not political activists, they owe none of us anything.

I can understand why the young men wouldn’t want to drag out the deal with the Duke 88, and just want to get on with their lives.

Perhaps a real prosecutor should look into the issue, however, and come up with a “state vs.” case against them all.
