...but it would also continue to follow the communist model of economic growth.

Which means no growth at all except what can be stolen.

would also continue to follow the communist model of economic growth

That had Cuba go from first to last in Latin American standard of living.

When Cuba is freed from Communism, it will be overrun by capitalists and tourists.

Life there will be a lot better then.

And Castro will rot in hell.

Yeah, and Mao promised that China would never take the capitalistic road.

... It will be enough to reduce wastage and the economy will grow," Castro wrote.

Good luck with that. I can't even get my own family to reduce wastage.

“The 80-year-old leader reportedly continues to suffer from ill-health and has not been seen in public since last July”

Sorry to hear he is still sick. He should call Michael Moore and get in on some of that wonderful health care.

"From one year to the next the standard of living can be improved by raising knowledge, self-esteem and the dignity of people. It will be enough to reduce wastage and the economy will grow," Castro wrote.

So what have they been doing for the past 50 years?

His manifesto, however, was signed Sunday afternoon, and he made clear in his statement that Cuba would not only retain its anti-U.S. stance, but it would also continue to follow the communist model of economic growth.

Castro has always believed that it should be fellow Cubans like himself to exploit the Cuban people, not foreigners.

Well, at least we won’t have to worry about the Cuban Marxists voting in our elections.

"Castro stated that U.S. efforts to overthrow him and seize power of the country will never materialize."

The communist tyrant should look around to see where his former communist dictators are now. Freedom should and could have been restored in 1961-1962.

Communist slavery in Cuba will not continue forever and neither will the Castro's ruling elite.

Once you take hold of the grim reaper's hand, Fidel, your ability to influence what Cuba becomes will evaporate like drops of water hitting asphalt in the hot August sun.

The communist regime you so effectively used like a lead club on the heads of the Cuban people will, in due time, suffer the same fate as that of the Soviet Union.

Say hello to the ash heap of history, Mr. Castro.
