Former Redskins and Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington has been seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash in the Washington D.C. area, WTOP Radio is reporting.
WTOP has been told by Prince George's County Fire that Arrington is in serious condition after a crash near Route 50 and the Capital Beltway. Arrington has reportedly been taken to Prince George's Hospital Center.
Arrington was the second overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Redskins. After six seasons in Washington, Arrington played for the Giants in 2006. Arrington was a free agent after being cut by the Giants after suffering a season-ending foot injury.

NFL Ping
Donorcycle.
I’ve never understood the appeal of motorcycles, and probably never will. To each his own, I guess.

“...it was his understanding that Arrington suffered a broken bone in his arm, three broken bones in his leg, cuts and bruises. The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.”
For a guy who was cut by his last team they sound CAREER-THREATENING though.
I would LOVE to own a bike, however, I do enjoy ‘bending the envelope’ of roads and speed limits. Should something unfortunate occur, well, I prefer my steel cage, not being up close and personal with Mr. Asphalt.
DC ping?

Wow, 1 year and 6 days after Big Ben’s accident. Note to NFL players: use cars in June.
RE: “...they sound CAREER-THREATENING though.”
That torn achilles that ended his last season probably doesn’t help matters.
Yup, last week I came within a couple of inches of nailing a crotch rocket blowing past me as I was taking a right hand turn.
If they want him to live, they need to get him out of there.
From that report you referenced:
“For younger people, dying in a car crash was the most frequent cause of accidental death; poisonings topped or tied car crashes among people in their 40s.”
Poisonings?? I could see that among toddlers, but among people in their 40s? Alcohol poisoning maybe? (Although I would think that would be more late-teens / early 20’s) Am I missing something or are the stats screwy?
Maybe “poisoning” is a euphemism for suicide by pills.
IIRC, poisonings includes everything from ODs (legal and illegal drugs) to chemical exposures.
so true!
He was once one of the best linebackers in NFL. Now I’m wishing a speedy recovery for Levar and hopefully he’ll go back to school and find a career. Perhaps, he can become an assistant coach at an university somewhere.
Prayers for the gentleman’s safety.
