“And our goal is clearly not to find a qualified and interested U.S. worker. And you know in a sense that sounds funny, but it’s what we’re trying to do here. We are complying with the law fully, but ah, our objective is to get this person a green card, and get through the labor certification process. So certainly we are not going to try to find a place [at which to advertise the job] where the applicants are the most numerous. We’re going to try to find a place where we can comply with the law, and hoping, and likely, not to find qualified and interested worker applicants.”
That’s not all.. there’s that part towards the end when the lady talks about bringing in a qualified American for an interview for the sole purpose of finding a reason to disqualify him/her.
Disgusting. Good post and very informative.
WTF?
I’m not sure which is more shocking, that this is done or that someone thought it was a good idea to say out loud.
THIS is one of the reasons I got out of HR.....too much like GOVERNMENT!
Or...I should say...HR SHILLS for the government and management!
Been going on a loooong time. My then-employer was doing this as far back as 1985 to help programmers and EEs to get green cards. We staff programmers used to have a good laugh at the way the ads were worded — we knew darn well why they were being run. I can’t recall for sure, but I was probably asked to contribute verbage to one or more of them.
Back then, no American citizen programmer with anything on the ball had trouble getting a decent job at good pay, so it really didn’t hurt that much. Don’t know whether that’s true anymore; I suspect not.
And vice versa. I always say our gubmint is like the world’s largest HR dept. They talk the same crap—jobs, benefits, health insurance.
Don’t let Lou Dobbs see this.
The fact that they said this out loud tells me that this conduct is probably not illegal. Unethical, immoral, unjust, completely contrary to what the American people expected from our labor laws ... but not illegal.
This is what you get when you have a bunch of corrupt lawyers writing our laws for us.
Shocking.
This is about as horrendous an example of fraudalent activity employer as I could ever imagine.
This is pretty good example of our bad laws and very bad, corrupt, government have created our current immigration problems.
I’d love for him to cover this.
This is outrageous. “The jobs Americans don’t want” my ass!
Hope this gets around.
this one deserves nat’l attention.
Someone please send this to Dobbs, Hannity, Rush, etc.
I really like it when lawyers try to be sales people.
They’re doing this because Government has stuck its nose where it doesn’t belong. Same for affirmative action and “equal opportunity”. Same for much benefits administration. The goal of HR is to help management meet its human resource needs despite the Government.
I agree. I just pinged Mark Levin and I sent it to drudge.
